Full Job Description
Sales
• San Francisco, California
• In-office

As Manager, Solutions Consulting, you'll build and lead Profound's San Francisco pre-sales solutions team. Partnering with the sales leaders standing up our SF team, you'll own how we win technically: how discovery gets run, how we demo, how we prove value, and how every enterprise evaluation becomes something repeatable. You won't carry a number, but you'll be close to the biggest deals in the region - in the room when it counts, coaching your team through the rest - and you'll hold yourself to knowing the product as well as anyone in the field. Partnering closely with Revenue and Product leadership, you'll build the playbooks, processes, and culture that turn strong individual contributors into a high-performing, scalable team.

What you'll do
  • Hire, ramp, and develop a team of Solutions Consultants in SF, and own their coaching, performance, and career growth
  • Stay close to the region's most strategic deals: shape the technical strategy, join key discovery calls, demos, POCs, and executive readouts, and step in directly when the deal calls for it
  • Set the standard for discovery, demos, POCs, and technical evaluations, and reinforce it through call reviews, deal inspections, and 1:1s
  • Partner with SF sales leadership as a peer on territory strategy, account planning, and where solutions support is best deployed
  • Stay deeply current on the platform as it ships, and make sure your team does too, so the field is never a release behind
  • Design and evolve Profound's demo methodology so value lands fast, whether the buyer cares about visibility, citations, agent traffic, or shopping
  • Build the solutions toolkit with Product and Engineering: demo environments, reusable assets, POC frameworks, ROI models, evaluation guides, and objection handling, so outcomes don't depend on tribal knowledge
  • Own pipeline hygiene and technical deal visibility for solutions-involved opportunities in your region, surfacing risk, scoping needs, and dependencies early
  • Route field feedback, product gaps, and competitive intelligence into Product and Product Marketing
  • Champion AI tooling across the team, from call prep to demo delivery to turning discovery notes into follow-up documentation

Who you are
  • 5 or more years in solutions consulting, sales engineering, or pre-sales in B2B SaaS, including at least 2 years managing Solutions Consultants, Sales Engineers, Solutions Architects, or a comparable technical customer-facing team
  • You've built a function rather than inherited one, and you're comfortable without an existing playbook
  • Strong technical fluency: you can hold a credible conversation about APIs, data models, integrations, BI connections, and analytics workflows with technical and business audiences alike
  • You keep your own product depth sharp. You'd rather be in the product than read a summary of it
  • You can explain how LLMs surface brands, and why that's different from traditional search, to a skeptical CMO and to an engineer in the same week
  • Credible with executive buyers, and able to frame a technical evaluation as a business narrative rather than a feature tour
  • A coach first. You lift performance through hands-on deal support and consistent execution, not by reinventing process every quarter
  • Collaborative leadership style, able to partner with Sales, Product, Engineering, and Engagement Management leadership as peers
  • Analytical, with a habit of translating customer needs into measurable business value
  • Deep curiosity about AI, search, and how brands show up in generative experiences
  • Entrepreneurial and comfortable with ambiguity in a fast-moving, high-growth environment

Location

This is an on-site role based in SF office, designed for builders who thrive on speed, iteration, and meaningful impact.

For this role, the expected base salary range is $200,000 to $250,000 before commission. Profound's total compensation package is designed to be competitive and includes base salary, equity, and a full range of benefits and perks. Final compensation will depend on factors such as your skills, experience, qualifications, and location, and will be determined during the interview process.
