Fully Remote (U.S. Only): This is a fully remote position, allowing you to work from home or location of record within the U.S. with no in-office requirements. Position OverviewThe Manager, AML & Money Transmission Compliance will be responsible for leading a team and executing hands-on tasks alongside compliance professionals specializing in anti-money laundering, money transmission licensing, and regulatory compliance in support of Paylocity's broader payment compliance obligations. This role serves as a key contributor to the development and ongoing operation of Paylocity's AML and money transmission compliance program, ensuring the AML program meets applicable federal and state regulatory requirements. The Manager partners cross-functionally by conducting BSA/AML risk assessments, managing money transmitter license obligations, and supporting the implementation of compliance controls across all payment flows including payroll, spend management, and benefits.

- Manage the day-to-day activities of direct report(s) to meet company and individual goals
- Develop, implement, and maintain the BSA/AML compliance program including policies, procedures, risk assessments, customer risk rating frameworks, and suspicious activity monitoring in alignment with the Bank Secrecy Act, USA PATRIOT Act, FinCEN regulations, and OCC requirements
- Support AML program readiness activities, including customer due diligence (CDD), enhanced due diligence (EDD), KYC onboarding, transaction monitoring, and preparation for regulatory examinations and reviews
- Manage active and pending money transmitter license obligations through NMLS, including preparing filings, responding to regulator inquiries, completing MSB Call Reports, tracking renewal deadlines, and coordinating material change notifications
- Conduct and enhance BSA/AML risk assessments across Payroll and Spend Management product lines, including the development of transparent risk weighting methodologies
- Monitor changing legislative and regulatory requirements related to AML, money transmission, OFAC sanctions, and federal banking regulations, and translate them into actionable guidance for internal partners
- Oversee suspicious activity report (SAR) investigations and filings, and 314(a) information sharing requests
- Build and maintain relationships with state money transmitter regulators, the OCC, and FinCEN, serving as a point of contact for regulatory communications and examinations
- Coordinate internal preparations for OCC examinations, state regulatory audits, and internal audit reviews, including gathering documentation and driving remediation of findings
- Partner with external counsel and consulting partners on Trust Bank regulatory deliverables, AML program enhancements, and licensing strategy
- Create and implement AML policies and manage streamlined processes to ensure compliance across all money movement channels
- Design and deliver ongoing AML training programs for internal employees to ensure awareness of BSA/AML obligations, OCC expectations, and money transmission requirements
- Provide regular summary reports and compliance updates to leadership, including the AML Governance Committee and executive team
- Partner with Internal Audit, Enterprise Risk, and Risk Mitigation teams to ensure policies are followed and appropriate controls are implemented
- Up to 10% travel may be required
Education and Experience- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree or JD preferred
- 7+ years of experience (with bachelor's degree) OR 5+ years of experience (with master's degree) in BSA/AML compliance, money transmission licensing, or financial crimes compliance required
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience required
- In-depth knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act, USA PATRIOT Act, FinCEN regulations, OFAC sanctions programs, and OCC supervisory expectations for national trust banks
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with state money transmitter licensing frameworks and NMLS, including state-specific regulatory nuances
- Experience developing and managing AML programs including risk assessments, customer risk rating models, CDD/EDD processes, suspicious activity monitoring, and SAR filings
- CAMS (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist) certification required
- Experience in the Payroll/HCM and Spend Management industries preferred
- Familiarity with OCC trust bank charter processes and national bank compliance frameworks strongly preferred
- Extensive knowledge of related recordkeeping and reporting requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for multiple audiences including regulators, executive leadership, and external counsel
- Self-directed, with ability to work independently as well as within a team environment
- Strong attention to detail and methodical research abilities
- Superior analytical and problem-solving skills
- Past project management experience a plus
Physical requirements- Ability to sit for extended periods: The role requires sitting at a desk or workstation for long periods, typically 7-8 hours a day.
- Use of computer and phone systems: The employee must be able to operate a computer, use phone systems, and type. This includes using multiple software programs and inquiries simultaneously.
The base pay range for this position is $110,000 - $130,000/yr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This position is eligible for an annual bonus and restricted stock unit grant based on individual performance in addition to a full range of benefits outlined here.
