Full Job Description
Legal Operations Manager

Fastly's global edge cloud platform helps the world's most popular digital businesses deliver fast, secure, and reliable experiences to their customers. Our Legal team moves at the speed of the business, and we're looking for a Senior Legal Operations Manager to help us do it even better. In this role, you'll help develop and manage the systems, processes, and relationships that keep Legal running efficiently, with a particular emphasis on how we thoughtfully put AI to work across the department. You'll partner directly with the Legal team (including the Chief Legal and Administrative Officer), Finance, IT, Business Systems, and Security to continue turning legal operations into a real competitive advantage. This is an individual contributor role that will report to the Director of Legal Operations, with room to grow within the Legal Operations organization.
What You'll Do:
Contract Lifecycle Management
  • Serve as the key administrator of Ironclad, owning templates, workflows, repository design, system configuration, and technical integrations (e.g., Salesforce, Claude, GitHub).
  • Help establish standardized, automated, efficient, and scalable contracting processes across business and legal teams, including intake, routing, review, approval, execution, and post-signature processes in close partnership with Legal, Sales, Finance, Procurement, IT, and other business stakeholders.
  • Strong focus on leveraging AI to strengthen the post-signature contract repository, powering smarter search, extraction, classification, risk identification, and obligation management on a foundation of clean, well-structured contract data.
  • Develop and maintain detailed process documentation and training materials that you will use to drive change management and adoption across the Legal team and relevant cross-functional partners.
Financial Management, E-Billing & Vendor Management
  • Manage the strategic use of Onit's Unity (aka SimpleLegal) for e-billing and spend management, including using AI-assisted invoice review and spend-analysis tools to enforce billing guidelines, flag exceptions, and surface spend trends.
  • Help manage outside counsel and legal service provider relationships, including the implementation and and management of outside counsel guidelines.
  • Help manage the legal technology vendor lifecycle in partnership with Procurement and IT, including evaluations, renewals, licensing, and SOWs.
  • Assist in building and maintaining the Legal team's annual budget and forecast, tracking spend against plan and flagging variances early.
  • Assist in the development of data-driven reporting on legal spend, matter volume, and operational KPIs for Legal leadership.
  • Develop and maintain detailed process documentation and training materials to drive change management and adoption across the legal team and relevant cross-functional partners.
Knowledge Management
  • Maintain and improve the Legal team's knowledge management repositories in Google Drive and Confluence, including how templates, policies, memoranda, playbooks, and other work product are organized and accessed by the Legal team and business partners.
  • Partner with subject-matter owners across the department to ensure the team's playbooks, training materials, policies, and knowledge base content are kept current.
  • Leverage AI to take inventory of repository materials and identify outdated, incomplete, and/or missing content on an ongoing basis.
eDiscovery
  • Assist in managing legal holds, data preservations, data collections, and document reviews using the Reveal ecosystem (Reveal Hold, Onna, and Logikcull).
  • Develop and maintain detailed process documentation and training materials to drive change management and adoption across the legal team and relevant cross-functional partners.
Program Management and Operational Excellence
  • Serve as a central program management partner across Legal department initiatives, managing project plans, timelines, workstreams, dependencies, prioritization, and delivery.
  • Assist in program management of Legal department calendar and department-wide meetings such as leadership team meetings, all-hands, quarterly priority updates, etc.
  • Partner with Legal and cross-functional stakeholders to conduct discovery, understand business requirements, and translate needs into actionable programs and solutions.
  • Help develop and execute change-management strategies for new processes, technologies, and AI capabilities, driving adoption through communication, training, and feedback loops.
AI Innovation
  • Partner with Legal and cross functional teams to support the Legal Department's AI and innovation roadmap.
  • Leverage AI to build intelligent intake, triage, workflow, and knowledge systems that resolve routine legal questions quickly and consistently while directing the hardest problems to the right people.
  • Help evaluate, pilot, and scale AI-powered legal tools, defining success criteria, testing against manual legal work, and making clear go/no-go calls before rolling anything out broadly.
  • Partner with IT, Information Security, and Privacy to ensure AI tools are deployed and used responsibly, with appropriate governance, risk review, and human oversight of AI output.
  • Build and deploy AI-enabled workflows that meaningfully increase the leverage of every person on the Legal team.
What We're Looking For:
  • 7+ years of experience in legal operations, business/program operations, or a related function, ideally within a technology, SaaS, AI, or other high-growth and fast-paced environment.
  • Hands-on experience administering Ironclad (CLM), SimpleLegal/Unity (matter management and e-billing), and eDiscovery management platforms.
  • Significant experience using and deploying generative AI tools (e.g., Claude and Gemini) and agents to drive efficiency in legal and legal operations work.
  • Experience building and managing knowledge management systems and playbooks/templates used across a legal team.
  • Demonstrated experience managing legal spend and supporting legal budgeting, forecasting, and accrual processes in partnership with Finance.
  • Track record of leading complex, cross-functional programs from strategy through execution, and of driving adoption of new tools and processes with sophisticated stakeholders, including attorneys.
  • Strong analytical and process improvement skills, with the ability to turn data into clear, actionable insights for legal and business leadership.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels and functions without direct authority.
  • A hyper-organized and detail-oriented project manager with the ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities in a fast-paced, distributed environment.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
We'll be super impressed if you have experience in any of these:
  • Experience with eDiscovery, legal hold, or data governance platforms such as Reveal Hold, Onna, or Logikcull.
  • Experience designing and evaluating AI pilots with defined success criteria and attorney oversight of AI output.
  • Experience with trade compliance or export screening workflows and tools such as Descartes.
  • Experience supporting a legal department at a public technology company.
  • Project management or process improvement credentials (e.g., PMP, Lean, Six Sigma).
  • Active participation in the legal operations community (e.g., CLOC, ACC Legal Operations).
