Full Job Description
Eaton's Electrical Critical Power Solutions Division is currently seeking a Lead Product Certification Engineer. This role follows a hybrid work model (3 days in-office, 2 days remote). In-office presence is required based on business and work needs. Remote flexibility is provided to support productivity, but employees should expect to be on-site as necessary to meet team and project requirements. Relocation assistance is available within the US to Raleigh, NC.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $97,000 - $143,000 a year.

The Lead Compliance Engineer defines and manages technical and regulatory requirements for static transfer switches, power distribution units, remote power panels, and other data center power equipment. This role ensures compliance with regional standards, guides design teams through requirements, supports validation and certification testing, and maintains regulatory compliance with evolving safety and environmental requirements.

What you'll do:

  • Interface with multifunctional teams consisting of individuals from product design, validation testing, manufacturing, and product engineering, acting as a consultant and reviewer in matters of agency compliance.
  • Identify potential product compliance issues before products are built. Provide product compliance feedback during design reviews.
  • Analyze new and proposed requirements from geographical, national, and local code writing organizations to determine how they could impact products and therefore recommend changes to them to stay in compliance.
  • Develop compliance test plans; reviews test facilities, setup and instrumentation; supervises agency tests conducted by others.
  • Analyze test data for determination of validity and product compliance to specifications.
  • Prepare and review test data materials for submittal to safety agencies.
  • Prepare detailed product construction reports for submittal to safety agencies.
  • Promote safety and environmental compliance in design.
  • Be part of the Eaton local UL DAP program.


Basic (Required) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of three (3)+ years of experience in product compliance, certification, safety, regulatory engineering, testing, validation, quality, power systems, or related product engineering.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience with certification agencies and standards organizations such as UL, Intertek, TÜV, CSA, IEC, IEEE, and related regulatory frameworks.
  • Familiarity with ISO/IEC 17025 and laboratory accreditation requirements.
  • Experience supporting compliance programs for power electronics, UPS, energy storage, EV charging, electrical distribution, data center power, industrial controls, or similar electrical products.
  • Experience testing or certifying medium- to high-power electrical equipment.


Keys to role success:

  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
  • Strong understanding of electrical safety, certification, and regulatory requirements, including compliance testing and standards interpretation.
  • Experience developing certification strategies, compliance test plans, technical documentation, and corrective action plans.
  • Ability to analyze test results and effectively communicate compliance requirements and outcomes.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with engineering teams, test laboratories, and third-party certification organizations to successfully achieve product certifications. #LI-LR1
