The Opportunity
As a Power Lead Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, development, and implementation of power systems that support reliable, efficient, and safe power infrastructure. In this role, you will guide the full lifecycle of engineering activities, from conceptual design and detailed engineering through testing and commissioning. You will work across power distribution, generation, and control systems, performing technical studies, developing engineering documentation, and supporting the successful delivery of complex projects. Working closely with project managers and multidisciplinary engineering teams, you will help integrate power solutions that meet technical requirements, industry standards, and customer expectations. You will also contribute to troubleshooting, continuous improvement, and the evaluation of emerging technologies, helping advance innovative approaches to power system design and operation. How You’ll Make an Impact
- Lead the full lifecycle of power system design, engineering, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Develop technical specifications, schematics, and engineering layouts for power distribution, generation, and control systems.
- Perform power system studies including load flow, short circuit, arc flash, and protective relay coordination investigations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to integrate power solutions across engineering projects.
- Evaluate and select power equipment, components, and technologies in alignment with applicable standards and regulations.
- Provide technical guidance and coaching to engineering team members while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
- Conduct site surveys, inspections, troubleshooting, and issue resolution during installation and operational phases.
- Prepare technical reports, project documentation, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
Your Background
- Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in power systems engineering, including at least 3 years in a lead or senior role.
- Proven experience designing and implementing complex power distribution, generation, and control systems.
- Proficiency with power system analysis software such as ETAP, SKM PowerTools, or PSS/E.
- Knowledge of electrical codes and standards including NEC, IEEE, and IEC.
- Experience with PLC/SCADA systems used for power system control and monitoring.
- P.E. license or equivalent professional certification is considered a plus.
