Job Summary

This posting is intended to gather expressions of interest from experienced Electrical Engineers (P.Eng.) for anticipated opportunities expected to arise over the next 3-6 months. While an immediate vacancy may not be available, we are building relationships with talented professionals who are interested in joining our growing Rail + Transit team as new projects and hiring needs materialize.

At TYLin, we are helping deliver the next generation of sustainable transportation infrastructure across Canada. As transit agencies continue investing in electrified rail networks, modern transit systems, and resilient transportation infrastructure, we are seeking an experienced and visionary Electrification Lead (P.Eng.) to join our growing Rail + Transit team.

This is a rare opportunity to take a leadership role in one of the most important transformations occurring in transportation today - the shift toward cleaner, smarter, and more sustainable transit systems. From traction power and overhead contact systems to substations, power distribution, and complex electrical infrastructure, you will help shape projects that will define how Canadians move for generations.

As a senior technical leader, you will play a pivotal role in establishing and growing TYLin's electrification capabilities across Canada while supporting some of the country's most ambitious rail and transit programs. If you are passionate about electrified transportation, thrive on solving complex engineering challenges, and are excited by the opportunity to build something meaningful, we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

The Opportunity

As Electrification Lead, you will provide technical leadership and strategic direction for rail and transit electrification projects across Canada.

You will serve as a trusted advisor to clients, mentor multidisciplinary teams, and lead the planning, design, and delivery of critical electrical infrastructure supporting transit networks. Working alongside industry-leading professionals, you will help advance projects from concept through construction while contributing to the growth and long-term success of TYLin's Rail + Transit practice.

This role is ideal for a seasoned professional seeking the opportunity to influence major infrastructure investments while helping build a market-leading electrification team.

What You'll Do
  • Lead the planning, design, and delivery of rail and transit electrification projects across Canada.
  • Serve as the technical authority for electrification systems, including traction power, substations, power distribution systems, overhead contact systems (OCS), and associated infrastructure.
  • Guide multidisciplinary teams through all project phases, including feasibility studies, preliminary engineering, detailed design, procurement, and construction support.
  • Develop and review technical reports, engineering calculations, specifications, design packages, and construction documents.
  • Provide technical leadership for system integration and coordination between civil, structural, track, signaling, communications, and operational disciplines.
  • Act as a key client interface, building trusted relationships with transit agencies, transportation authorities, and project stakeholders.
  • Support business development efforts, proposal preparation, strategic pursuits, and client engagement activities.
  • Mentor and develop junior and intermediate engineers while fostering technical excellence throughout the team.
  • Lead quality management and technical review processes to ensure delivery of high-quality engineering solutions.
  • Contribute to the growth and expansion of TYLin's Rail + Transit Electrification practice across Canada.

What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Canada is a strict requirement.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in electrical engineering, with significant experience supporting rail, transit, transportation, or large infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated experience leading electrification projects involving traction power systems, substations, overhead contact systems, power distribution, or related transit infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of Canadian electrical codes, standards, utility coordination requirements, and transportation industry best practices.
  • Experience managing technical teams and coordinating multidisciplinary engineering efforts.
  • Proven ability to engage directly with clients and lead complex project discussions.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience supporting major transit agencies, commuter rail systems, light rail transit (LRT), metro systems, or passenger rail networks is highly desirable.
  • A passion for innovation, sustainable transportation, and building infrastructure that serves communities for generations.
