BMO's Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) group is a specialized team within BMO Capital Markets that advises clients on a broad range of strategic transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, strategic investments, and other complex transactions. Working closely with industry coverage teams and other product groups, the team provides strategic advice and transaction execution support to clients across sectors and geographies. An analyst on this team will work within a highly skilled and collaborative environment to develop and deliver creative and actionable capital markets solutions to prospective and existing clients. Key responsibilities include:
  • Supporting deal teams in developing client relationships and the origination and execution of mandates.
  • Researching and analyzing company and industry financial and operating information.
  • Developing an understanding of client needs and outcomes.
  • Performing complex financial modeling and valuation analyses as part of client and industry evaluations.
  • Applying technical concepts and understanding the implications of work on clients and transactions.
  • Developing and delivering client-facing presentation materials that support the evaluation of strategic alternatives and transaction opportunities.
  • Exercising judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems.
  • Building effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Providing feedback and supporting continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Taking measured risks while protecting the bank by applying our Risk Management Framework in the execution of your role, in line with our Risk Culture and within our approved Risk Appetite, making sound and risk informed decisions that align to business strategy, protect assets, and adhere to applicable policy documents (Frameworks, Policies, Standards, Procedures and Supporting documents), laws and regulations.
