Job Description:

HSSE Manager positions offered by Hitachi Energy USA Inc. (Jefferson City, Missouri). Lead a large team of HSSE resources to support site objectives and internal customers. Responsible for HSSE strategic planning to help move the organization towards achieving all KPIs as well as target and objectives. Lead risk-based management efforts to reduce risk of incident with a focus on serious incident prevention. Act as a coach and advisor toward the site leadership team concerning HSSE management. Actively participate in the site’s daily management program (Tiered accountability). Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal HSSE regulations under scope of responsibility. Help maintain and execute the HSSE management systems and carry out inspections and audits, analyze the results, and manage the corrective actions. Ensure the effectiveness of corrective actions to ensure prevention of reoccurrence. Manage the incident reporting, investigation, and analysis program for your area of responsibility. Analyze and monitor trends regarding incidents, inspections, audits, and corrective measures and keep the leadership team informed. Contribute to the development and implementation of various Group and Business Unit HSSE programs and procedures (ergonomics, lockout, inspections and scheduled audits, etc.). Organize activities to promote employee awareness, increase their participation and encourage the adoption of safe behaviors. Work with site resources to manage worker’s compensation programs.

• Requires a bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Occupational Health Science, or a related field and 7 years of experience working in the Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) field.

• Must have 7 years of experience in each of the following:

  • Coaching or mentoring HSSE team members and site leadership.
  • Operating in and supporting matrixed leadership and functional teams.
  • Working with environmental regulations, including air, wastewater, storm water, remediation, and hazardous waste.
  • Using Microsoft Excel and Power Point to perform data analysis on environmental data and normalize KPIs; and
  • Using ISO 14.001 and ISO 45.001 management systems.

• Must have 1 year of experience managing team members.

• Experience may be, but need not be, acquired concurrently.
