Full Job Description
The Executive Director, Corporate Functions & Digital Communications leads communications strategy for Bristol Meyers Squibb's corporate functions and executive leadership team members, while overseeing corporate digital channels and executive visibility platforms. This role serves as a strategic communications partner to senior leaders across the enterprise, responsible for developing integrated communications strategies that advance business priorities, strengthen leadership engagement and enhance visibility across internal and external audiences. Working in close partnership with Executive Communicators, Media Relations, Corporate Brand & Reputation and Enterprise Strategy & People Communications, this leader ensures communications, thought leadership for the Core Functions and digital engagement activities are aligned with enterprise priorities and support consistent corporate positioning across channels and stakeholders. The Executive Director oversees communications support for corporate functions, executive positioning, thought leadership, corporate digital channels, executive social media strategy and leadership engagement programs. The role serves as a strategic advisor to functional leadership teams and helps identify opportunities to elevate Bristol Myers Squibbs's expertise, innovation and leadership across key stakeholder audiences. Corporate Functions Communications • Lead communications strategy and execution for corporate functions, including Finance, HR, Legal, Business Insights & Technology and Corporate Affairs. • Partner with functional leadership teams to develop integrated communications plans that support business objectives, organizational priorities and transformation initiatives. • Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leaders on communications strategy, employee engagement, organizational announcements and change communications. • Ensure function-specific communications align with broader enterprise priorities and corporate positioning. Executive Positioning & Thought Leadership • Develop executive positioning and thought leadership strategies for designated leadership team members and senior executives. • Identify opportunities to elevate executive visibility through speaking engagements, authored content, industry participation and strategic communications platforms. • Partner closely with Media Relations to ensure coordinated planning and execution across internal and external engagements. • Translate complex business, scientific and operational topics into compelling and relevant leadership narratives. Corporate Digital Channels & Executive Social Strategy • Oversee strategy, governance and performance for corporate digital channels, including LinkedIn and other enterprise-owned platforms. • Lead executive social media strategy and content planning for designated leaders, ensuring alignment with business priorities, audience interests and platform best practices. • Partner with Corporate Brand & Reputation to ensure digital content reinforces brand strategy, reputation priorities and corporate positioning. • Leverage analytics and audience insights to optimize content performance, engagement and channel effectiveness. Enterprise Alignment & Integration • Serve as a key integrator across Corporate Communications to ensure alignment of functional communications, executive positioning and digital engagement efforts. • Partner with Corporate Brand & Reputation, CEO Communications, Enterprise Strategy & People Communications and Media Relations to coordinate messaging, campaigns and stakeholder engagement opportunities. • Identify opportunities to connect functional expertise, executive visibility and digital storytelling to broader business priorities. • Ensure resources and support are focused on the highest-impact opportunities consistent with the Corporate Communications service model and prioritization framework. Team Leadership • Lead and develop a high-performing team responsible for corporate functions communications, executive positioning and digital engagement. • Establish clear priorities, operating rhythms and measurement frameworks to drive accountability and performance. • Foster collaboration across Corporate Affairs and business functions to deliver integrated, high-impact communications outcomes. Required Qualifications • Significant experience developing and leading communications strategies for senior executives, corporate functions, or enterprise-level initiatives within a complex organization. • Proven ability to serve as a trusted strategic advisor, shaping communications approaches, influencing stakeholders, and translating business priorities into actionable communications plans. • Strong executive presence and judgement, with the ability to navigate complex, high-visibility issues and competing priorities. • Exceptional written, verbal and digital communications skills, including experience developing executive content, thought leadership platforms, and multi-channel communications strategies. • Demonstrated success leading communications across internal, external, and digital channels, with the ability to integrate messaging and stakeholder engagement efforts. • Bachelor's degree in communications, Journalism, Public Relations, English, Business, Marketing or a related field. • 15+ years of progressive communications experience, including corporate communications, executive communications, thought leadership, digital communications or related disciplines. • At least 5 years of people leadership experience, including leading high-performing teams and developing communications talent. • Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive communications, organizational change, executive visibility initiatives, and high-impact business announcements. Preferred Qualifications • Advanced degree (MBA, master's in communications, public relations, business or related field). • Experience in biopharmaceutical, healthcare, life sciences or highly regulated industries. • Experience supporting executive leadership teams and corporate functions within a global or matrixed organization. • Familiarity with corporate digital channel management, executive social media strategy and audience engagement analytics. • Experience developing integrated thought leadership and executive positioning strategies for senior leaders. • Strong understanding of corporate reputation, stakeholder engagement, and communications measurement frameworks. Compensation Overview: $256,790 - $311,163 The starting pay range(s) listed above is for full-time employees (FTE). You may also be eligible for additional discretionary incentive cash and stock opportunities. We determine starting pay thoughtfully - carefully considering the nature of the role, required skills, work location, schedule and the knowledge and experience you bring. Final compensation is guided by pay equity principles and applicable employment laws. Compensation programs are reviewed on an ongoing basis and may be adjusted over time to reflect evolving market factors, and individual, team or Company performance. Benefits: Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable plans then in effect, you may be eligible to participate in our comprehensive benefit plans - including wellbeing support, retirement and financial protection benefits, and insurance offerings (medical, dental, vision, life and disability). U.S.-based exempt employees are eligible for Flexible Time Off (FTO), which provides paid time off without a set accrual limit, subject to manager approval, along with 11 paid company holidays each year. Non-exempt employees, RayzeBio employees, and employees located in Puerto Rico receive 160 hours of paid vacation annually for new hires (subject to manager approval), 11 paid company holidays, and 3 optional holidays.
