Full Job Description
Job Description

You will start by learning the ropes of our custom-built simulation tool-suite, but you will quickly move toward owning your own analysis and contributing to the design of next-generation systems.

The Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit comprises the technical talent and organizational leadership that enables the successful delivery of high-impact discriminating technologies for our customers' missions. Our collaborative, cross-functional teams are committed to innovation, integrity, continual learning and strong execution.

What You'll Do:

  • Learn & Analyze: Master the art of characterizing mission performance. You will use advanced modeling and simulation to determine if a system architecture will succeed or fail before a single piece of hardware is ever built.
  • Build & Innovate: You won't just use tools-you'll help build them. You will develop new algorithms and simulation tools to solve complex data analysis problems.
  • Collaborate & Contribute: Work side-by-side with senior engineers to hit project milestones and solve technical bottlenecks.
  • Develop Your Voice: Gain confidence in professional communication by presenting your findings to peers, management, and customers-with the support and coaching of your team.
  • See the Big Picture: Get exposure to the business side of engineering, including proposal writing and strategic planning, giving you a comprehensive understanding of how the industry operates.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations will be required.

The On-Site Advantage: This role is based on-site five days a week. For a newer engineer, this is your greatest advantage. You will have immediate, face-to-face access to senior mentors, the ability to collaborate over a whiteboard in real-time, and a direct connection to the laboratories and production floors where your designs come to life.

Working Conditions:
  • Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
  • May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
  • May access other facilities in various weather conditions.

Required Skills and Education

  • BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 2 or more years related experience
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., master's degree and/or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
