Full Job Description
Job Description

We are seeking a Systems Engineer with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience to support programs and engineering initiatives as part of our growing Digital Ecosystem organization.

This position will apply systems engineering and MBSE methods to complex program and enterprise challenges, helping teams better define, understand, integrate, and manage their systems throughout the lifecycle. The successful candidate will combine strong systems thinking with practical modeling skills and the ability to work effectively with engineers across multiple disciplines.

The role extends beyond building models. Our objective is to use models, authoritative data, connected engineering processes, and modern digital capabilities to improve engineering execution and decision-making.

What You'll Do:
  • Apply systems engineering and MBSE methods to program and engineering challenges.
  • Develop and maintain system models representing requirements, functions, behaviors, interfaces, architectures, and other system relationships.
  • Work with engineering teams to translate technical information and engineering intent into useful system models and architectures.
  • Support requirements analysis, functional decomposition, interface definition, architecture development, trade studies, and system integration.
  • Help programs establish effective MBSE approaches appropriate to their lifecycle, complexity, and execution needs.
  • Integrate systems engineering models with related engineering and program information to support a connected digital thread.
  • Assess existing engineering processes and identify opportunities for improved integration, automation, reuse, and data continuity.
  • Support development of MBSE methods, modeling conventions, standards, templates, and reusable patterns.
  • Mentor less-experienced engineers in systems thinking and MBSE fundamentals.
  • Facilitate technical discussions across engineering disciplines and organizational boundaries.
  • Support demonstrations, training, technical reviews, and stakeholder communications.
  • Evaluate opportunities to incorporate AI and automation into systems engineering and digital engineering workflows.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site three or more days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.

Working Conditions:
  • Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
  • May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
  • May access other facilities in various weather conditions.

Required Skills and Education

  • BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 2 or more years related experience.
  • Each higher-level related degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of related experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • Professional engineering experience appropriate for an Engineer II position.
  • Demonstrated experience applying MBSE methods to engineering problems.
  • Experience developing or working with system models using SysML or comparable modeling approaches.
  • Strong understanding of fundamental systems engineering concepts including requirements, functions, interfaces, architectures, verification, and lifecycle integration.
  • Demonstrated systems thinking and ability to reason across technical disciplines and system boundaries.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

  • Experience with Cameo Systems Modeler/MagicDraw or similar MBSE platforms.
  • Experience with SysML and structured modeling methodologies.
  • Experience supporting aerospace, defense, or other complex engineered systems.
  • Experience integrating MBSE with requirements management, software, analysis, PLM, or other engineering environments.
  • Familiarity with digital thread, digital engineering, model governance, or authoritative source-of-truth concepts.
  • Experience with scripting, APIs, AI-enabled engineering methods, or workflow automation.
  • Experience supporting or facilitating technical reviews and multidisciplinary engineering activities.

This position will be posted for at least 5 calendar days. The posting will remain active until the position is filled, or a qualified pool of candidates is identified.

Multiple positions may be available on this opening.
