Full Job Description

The Role:

The Program Management team at Moderna is responsible for the management of the clinical-stage programs from lead nomination to licensure and life cycle management. Moderna is seeking a motivated and energetic Director, Program Management to drive the program teams forward in the development of novel mRNA medicines within the Moderna Oncology Portfolio. The successful candidate will work in close coordination with the Program Leader and the cross-functional Program Team to enable the execution of the program strategy. Each program manager may be assigned 1-3 programs depending on the phase of development. The successful program manager will have program management experience across multiple phases of pre-clinical and clinical development, preferably in Oncology.

Here’s What You’ll Do:

  • Partnering with the program leader to shape program strategy and execution plan.

  • Collaborating with functional leads to define program strategy and proactively identify and escalate gaps and challenges; Managing team through scenario planning to solve problems.

  • Building relationships with key stakeholders (team members and leadership) to ensure alignment of functional and corporate objectives; Leveraging organizational dynamics to promote program goals.

  • Coordinating team efforts to develop impactful presentations to summarize complex topics into critical points to facilitate strategic planning and decision-making; Communicating program status, risks, and decision enabling materials to governance bodies and executive leadership meetings.

  • Developing and tracking activities against program timelines and budget.

  • Administering the day-to-day activities, including facilitating cross-functional team meetings, leading discussions to drive decision-making, preparing agenda and meeting minutes, and defining and resolving action items.

  • Working with the Finance group to implement and track the program budget.

  • Contributing to Program Management initiatives to support the development and scaling of capabilities, tools, and processes.

Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table:

  • BS degree in a scientific field with a minimum of 10 years of experience or MS degree in a scientific field with at least 8 years of experience in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical setting.

  • Proven track record of successful project management experience in drug development (preferably in Oncology) across multiple phases (pre-clinical and clinical Phase 1-3).

  • Prior experience managing or working within cross-functional project teams with timeline management and budgetary responsibility.

  • Strong knowledge of project management tools and software (e.g., Smartsheet, MS Project, and timeline visualization software).

  • Must be adept at working in a fluid environment and foster a strong collaborative spirit internally and externally.

  • Strong personal skills to influence without authority, motivate others and manage conflict.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills as well as demonstrated organizationalaptitude.

  • Preferred: Project/program management training.

  • Preferred: Ph.D. or PharmD

The salary range for this role is $167,000.00 - $300,700.00. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An individuals position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, performance, and business or organizational needs. The successful candidate may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, other incentive compensation, or equity award, subject to company plan eligibility criteria and individual performance.
