[email protected]SUMMARY OF POSITION:The Director of Surgical Services provides administrative, operational, financial, and clinical leadership for all perioperative services. The Director is accountable for ensuring excellence in clinical quality, patient safety, physician satisfaction, employee engagement, regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and financial performance.
This role provides strategic direction and oversight for Surgical Services, including Operating Room (OR), Pre-Admission Testing (PAT), Pre-Operative Services, Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), Endoscopy, Sterile Processing, Anesthesia Support Services, and other perioperative departments assigned. The Director partners with physicians, anesthesia providers, nursing leadership, and executive leaders to achieve exceptional patient outcomes, optimize operational performance, drive service line growth, and support organizational strategic priorities.
The Director fosters a culture of safety, accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement while maintaining compliance with all regulatory and accreditation requirements.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):- Bachelor's degree in Nursing required.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of employment or possession of a multistate RN license through the Nurse Licensure Compact.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required prior to completion of orientation.
- CNOR certification.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of healthcare experience.
- Minimum of five (5) years of management experience within Surgical Services.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):- Master's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field.
- Healthcare leadership certification (NEA-BC, FACHE, CNML, or similar).
- Experience overseeing multiple perioperative departments, including OR, PACU, PAT, Pre-Op, Endoscopy, Sterile Processing, and procedural areas.
- Director-level experience in a complex acute care hospital or academic medical center.
- Experience leading perioperative service line growth, strategic planning, operational transformation, and technology implementation.
- Demonstrated success partnering with surgeons and anesthesia providers to improve quality, patient safety, operational performance, and patient experience.
- Experience leading regulatory readiness, accreditation surveys, and performance improvement initiatives.
- Demonstrated experience leading perioperative operations including Operating Room, Pre/Post-Anesthesia Care, and procedural service lines.
- Demonstrated knowledge of perioperative regulatory, accreditation, and quality requirements.
