THE ROLE

Director, Merchandising - Dresses

We are seeking a Director of Merchandising, Women's Dresses to join our growing team and lead the strategy for one of Quince's largest apparel categories. In this highly visible role, you will be responsible for elevating the brand vision, optimizing the assortment, and driving category expansion across both everyday casual and occasion wear. You will lead the team in solving critical fit and aesthetic challenges to build a go-to destination for high-quality, versatile dresses that delight our core customer and establish Quince as a market leader.

Responsibilities
  • Expand current Women's Dresses assortment by adding 75 new SKUs to site, meeting the Quince definition of quality, margins, and ethics
  • Build a long term product roadmap that is constantly refined/ updated with new information and learning. Articulate a clear category positioning, product segmentation, and strategic financial objectives for your category.
  • Work closely with Product Development, Sourcing, and Technical Design teams to develop and improve current products and products in the pipeline
  • Partner with Planning, Site Merchandising and Marketing teams to acquire more customers, improve conversion, and improve repeat
  • Obsess about every aspect of our products (quality, price, function, fabrications, trims and silhouettes, etc.) to deliver the best quality products to the customer
  • Help drive the business forward to meet sales targets, customer ratings/return rates and improved margins
  • Firmly connected to the competitive landscape to be able to benchmark our perceived value and create our competitive advantage

Qualifications

Required:
  • Role is based in San Francisco California, with 3 days per week in office requirement.
  • 12+ years of retail merchandising experience in the Women's apparel category, preferably with dresses experience
  • 2+ years of people management experience
  • E-commerce experience and/or DTC experience preferred
  • Proven track record of progressing within an organization and demonstrating continuous growth in roles and responsibilities
  • Product obsessed with experience in leveraging data tools and external sources
  • Critical eye to anticipate customer needs (both the "science" and "art" of retail merchandising)
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented and analytical with focus on execution, problem-solving, improving processes and brand enhancement
  • Continuous learner and highly curious; always open to considering new perspectives; proactive when changing course and facing added challenges
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Motivated by working in a fast-paced collaborative environment, where flexibility to stretch into or out of functional comfort zones is crucial for team success

Preferred:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Fashion, Business, Merchandising, or related field
  • Expert knowledge in building and scaling occasion wear or dress categories (casual, work, occasion, formal wear, or bridal)
  • Interest in sustainable fashion or socially responsible businesses


All posted ranges are reflective of base salary and may vary depending upon experience level and location. Bonus and equity may also be provided for eligible roles.

Pay Range

$195,000-$240,000 USD
