Full Job Description
Bristol Meyers Squibb is seeking a Director, AI Communications, to help shape and advance how we communicate the role of artificial intelligence in transforming our company and helping us deliver for patients.

Reporting to the Executive Director, Corporate Function and Digital Strategy Communications, the role will help develop and activate a compelling enterprise narrative around BMS's approach to AI and the innovative work taking place across the company. The Director will work closely with BMS's Business Insights & Technology (BI&T) organization as well as communications partners across the enterprise to ensure our AI story reflects the breadth of work underway and that messaging is clear, consistent and connected across internal and external audiences.

The Director will proactively seek out opportunities to elevate BMS's AI platform and demonstrate the innovative ways AI is being applied across the company, from advancing science and accelerating innovation to transforming how we work and ultimately helping us deliver more for patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Help shape, evolve and activate BMS's enterprise AI narrative, ensuring it is differentiated, credible and grounded in the company's business, scientific and technology priorities.
  • Partner closely with BI&T and leaders and teams across the enterprise to understand BMS's AI strategy, capabilities and emerging areas of innovation and translate them into compelling communications.
  • Serve as a connective point across Corporate Communications and communications teams throughout BMS to drive consistency and alignment of AI messaging across the organization.
  • Work cross-functionally to ensure various perspectives, priorities and examples of AI innovation are appropriately incorporate into the broader enterprise narrative.
  • Proactively uncover and develop stories that demonstrate how BMS is using AI in meaningful and innovative ways, creating a strong pipeline of proof points that can be leveraged across communications channels.
  • Identify strategic partnerships, platforms, forums and other opportunities that can elevate BMS's AI story and strengthen the company's visibility and reputation as a leader in the responsible and innovative use of AI.
  • Partner closely with Media Relations team to identify compelling AI stories and proof points for external engagement, ensuring that the external messages and context needed exists to effective communicate BMS's AI progress and leadership.
  • Partner with executive and leadership communications colleagues to equip BMS leadership with consistent, compelling messaging and proof points about the company's AI strategy and progress.
  • Develop communications strategies and content that make complex AI and technology topics accessible, relevant and engaging for a range of audiences.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the rapidly evolving AI landscape, including emerging technologies, industry trends and stakeholder expectations, and identify opportunities and potential reputation considerations for BMS.
  • Establish and maintain core AI messaging , narratives, proof points and communications resources that can be leveraged consistently across the enterprise.
  • Measure the effectiveness of AI communications and use insights to continuously strengthen BMS's narrative and approach.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Significant experience in corporate communications, technology communications, reputation, thought leadership or a related field, preferably within a complex global organization.
  • Strong understanding of AI, emerging technology and digital transformation, with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear and compelling narratives.
  • Exceptional writing, storytelling and strategic communications skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across functions and influence stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Experience developing enterprise narratives and translating strategy into communications for internal and external audiences.
  • Strong communications judgement and an ability to proactively identify stories, partnerships and platforms that cn build corporate reputation.
  • Experience in biopharma, healthcare or another highly regulated industry is preferred.
  • Intellectual curiosity and a strong interest in the intersection of science, technology, business and society.
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, Journalism, Public Relations, English, or a related field
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in corporate communications, executive communications, or a related discipline, with significant experience in a large, complex, matrixed organization
  • At least 4+ years of senior leadership experience, including direct advisory responsibilities at the executive or C-suite level.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing and executing CEO or C-suite communications strategies across internal and external audiences.
  • Proven experience crafting high-impact executive content including speeches, talking points, town halls, and written leadership communications.
  • Strong track record of managing sensitive and high-stakes communications with sound judgment and discretion.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to capture and reflect executive voice authentically and consistently.
  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally with Media Relations, Legal, Government Affairs, and other key enterprise partners.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree (MBA, master's in communications, or a related field).
  • Experience in the biopharmaceutical, life sciences, or healthcare industry.
  • Familiarity with global communications environments and diverse stakeholder audiences.
  • Experience supporting CEO or enterprise-level thought leadership and external positioning strategies.

Compensation Overview:

Princeton - NJ - US: $187,340 - $227,012

The starting pay range(s) listed above is for full-time employees (FTE). You may also be eligible for additional discretionary incentive cash and stock opportunities. We determine starting pay thoughtfully - carefully considering the nature of the role, required skills, work location, schedule and the knowledge and experience you bring. Final compensation is guided by pay equity principles and applicable employment laws. Compensation programs are reviewed on an ongoing basis and may be adjusted over time to reflect evolving market factors, and individual, team or Company performance.

Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable plans then in effect, you may be eligible to participate in our comprehensive benefit plans - including wellbeing support, retirement and financial protection benefits, and insurance offerings (medical, dental, vision, life and disability).

U.S.-based exempt employees are eligible for Flexible Time Off (FTO), which provides paid time off without a set accrual limit, subject to manager approval, along with 11 paid company holidays each year.

Non-exempt employees, RayzeBio employees, and employees located in Puerto Rico receive 160 hours of paid vacation annually for new hires (subject to manager approval), 11 paid company holidays, and 3 optional holidays.

Depending on eligibility, employees may also have access to additional time-off benefits, including paid sick leave, up to two paid volunteer days per year, summer hours flexibility, and leaves of absence for medical, personal, parental, caregiver, bereavement, or military needs. Eligible employees also enjoy an annual Global Shutdown between Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
