Salary Range:
$200,000 USD - $250,000 USD

Specific compensation will be based on candidate's experience, skills, qualifications, commercial considerations, and other job-related factors permitted by law. At Russell Investments, salary is just one part of our compensation package. Job Description:

Russell Investments is seeking a strategic, commercially minded Director, Capital Markets to bridge our Capital Markets expertise with client, product, and business strategy. This role sits at the intersection of investment management, product development, and client engagement, helping shape and communicate Russell's capital markets capabilities across implementation services, transition management, derivatives, liquidity management, and trading solutions.

You will partner closely with Portfolio Management, Trading, Product, Distribution, Investment Strategy, and Client teams to develop market-leading solutions, identify growth opportunities, support product innovation, and articulate the value of Russell's capital markets capabilities to clients and prospects.

This role is ideal for an investment professional who combines deep capital markets knowledge with strong communication, commercial, and strategic thinking skills.

Your Core Responsibilities:

Product Specialist & Development

  • Develop and execute product strategies for Russell's Capital Markets capabilities, including transition management, derivatives, implementation services, trading, overlay solutions, and liquidity management.


  • Identify market trends, client needs, and competitive opportunities to inform new product development and enhancements.


  • Partner with Investment, Product Management, Legal, Compliance, Risk, and Operations to bring new capabilities to market.


  • Develop business cases for new investment solutions and enhancements.


Market & Commercial Strategy

  • Monitor capital markets, regulatory developments, and industry trends to identify strategic opportunities.


  • Conduct competitor analysis and maintain insight into evolving client needs and market positioning.


  • Translate market developments into actionable insights for investment teams, client-facing colleagues, and senior leadership.


  • Help shape the long-term strategic roadmap for Russell's Capital Markets offering.


Client & Distribution Partnership

  • Partner with Sales, Consultant Relations, and Client Service teams to support strategic client opportunities.


  • Participate in client meetings, consultant presentations, and finalist presentations as a capital markets subject matter expert.


  • Develop compelling messaging that clearly communicates Russell's differentiated capabilities.


Thought Leadership

  • Produce market commentary, white papers, presentations, and educational content related to capital markets and implementation.


  • Represent Russell Investments externally through conferences, webinars, and industry events.


  • Partner with Marketing to develop campaigns highlighting Russell's investment expertise and differentiated solutions.


Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Collaborate across Investment Division teams including Portfolio Management, Overlay Services, Trading, Asset Allocation, and Investment Strategy.


  • Partner with Product, Technology, and Operations to improve scalability and client experience.


  • Support strategic initiatives that improve efficiency, innovation, and commercial outcomes.


Your Expertise:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Mathematics, or related field.


  • 8+ years of experience in capital markets, investment management, trading, product strategy, implementation, or institutional investing.


  • Strong understanding of:


  • Global equity and fixed income markets


  • Derivatives and overlay strategies
