Responsibilities

Full Job Description
Position Summary
The Credit Manager is responsible for leading customer credit risk management, collections activities to support profitable business growth while protecting company assets. This role partners closely with Sales, Finance, Operations, and executive leadership to evaluate customer creditworthiness, optimize cash flow, minimize financial risk, and ensure compliance with corporate policies, credit insurance requirements, and internal controls. The Credit Manager also drives continuous improvement initiatives that enhance credit, collections, and customer service processes across the organization.

Location: This position is located in Walnut Creek, CA. In office attendance is expected 4 days per week.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the evaluation and approval of new and existing customer credit applications through financial statement analysis, credit investigations, trade references, and third-party credit reporting agencies.
  • Establish, monitor, and maintain customer credit limits, payment terms, and risk mitigation strategies while balancing business opportunities with acceptable risk.
  • Manage collections for past-due accounts, working collaboratively with customers, Sales, and internal stakeholders to resolve payment issues, disputes, and delinquent balances in a timely manner.
  • Monitor accounts receivable aging, customer credit exposure, and collection performance; provide regular reporting, cash flow updates, and recommendations to management.
  • Maintain accurate customer credit files, SAP customer master data, and supporting documentation, including credit approvals, UCC filings, letters of credit, bonds, and other risk mitigation instruments.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with credit insurance providers, third-party credit agencies, auditors, and other external partners to ensure compliance with insurance requirements, SOX controls, and company policies.
  • Develop, maintain, and communicate credit and collection policies, procedures, and best practices to Sales and cross-functional teams.
  • Partner with Sales, Finance, Operations, Legal, and executive leadership to negotiate credit terms, resolve complex customer issues, and support strategic business objectives.
  • Identify and implement process improvements, automation opportunities, and system enhancements to improve operational efficiency, reporting, and the customer experience.

Lead or support special projects and contribute to building a high-performing, collaborative credit and collections

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in commercial credit, collections, and accounts receivable management, including experience in a corporate or manufacturing environment.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of financial statement analysis, commercial credit risk assessment, collections, credit insurance, and accounts receivable best practices.
  • Experience working with SAP ERP and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities with strong attention to detail.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.

Compensation & Benefits

Canadian Solar offers a competitive salary plus fully comprehensive benefits and performance bonus package based on an annual objective achievement. Our generous benefits package includes a 401(k) Retirement Plan, medical/dental/life/disability program, PTO and sick days.

The pay range for this position is $140,000 - $180,000 USD annually. This range represents annual base salary only, without regard to location, and does not include bonus or other incentives or benefits that may apply. The pay range for this role is subject to change.
