Contract Construction Manager - Project Execution Team

Hybrid - San Diego, CA

Position Overview

The Construction Manager (CM) is responsible for the overall management, coordination, and execution of assigned BESS construction projects from planning through commissioning and closeout. The CM provides leadership for all field operations and is accountable for ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contract requirements, engineering specifications, and quality standards.

The CM serves as LG Vertech's primary site representative and works closely with internal project teams, customers, subcontractors, and vendors to proactively manage construction activities, resolve field challenges, mitigate risks, and deliver successful project outcomes.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Direct and coordinate all on-site construction activities to ensure safe, efficient, and successful project execution.
  • Develop and execute project construction plans in coordination with the Project Manager.
  • Oversee daily construction activities and communicate with field personnel and subcontractors.
  • Monitor and report project productivity, schedule performance, and workforce utilization.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks that could impact safety, quality, schedule, or budget.

  • Serve as the primary field liaison between the LG Vertech project team, customers, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Provide safety leadership and ensure compliance with OSHA, company, and customer requirements.
  • Implement QA/QC programs and perform quality inspections.
  • Coordinate with LG Vertech project team and Subcontractors regarding site logistics, equipment mobilization, material management, receiving, inspection, storage, and documentation.
  • Support change order development and document potential scope changes.
  • Monitor construction costs and communicate budget concerns to project management.
  • Maintain project records, prepare required reports, and lead project meetings and stakeholder communications.
  • Facilitate turnover, commissioning, punch list, and project closeout activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required, College Diploma preferred
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience managing electrical utility, renewable energy, BESS, or high-voltage substation construction projects.
  • Previous experience as a Construction Manager, Superintendent, General Foreman, or Lead Supervisor preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising subcontractors, craft labor, and field construction activities.
  • Working knowledge of construction scheduling, project controls, safety programs, and quality management systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Procore, Bluebeam, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Experience with BESS, high-voltage substations, transmission/distribution infrastructure, or utility-scale energy projects preferred.
  • OSHA 10 and NFPA 70E certification required; training may be provided for qualified candidates.


Travel
  • This position is primarily field-based and requires work at active construction sites.
