Job Description:
The Business Operations Manager (BOM) will be responsible for working closely with the Program Manager (PM) and Senior Business Operations Manager in the coordination and tracking of all activities related to contract operation. The BOM will assist with administrative, personnel, fiscal, travel, logistical, training, equipment and other duties as assigned.
The BOM will work onsite at NASA Ames in Mountain View, California.

Salary range: $100,000 to $140,000
Primary Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of program activities as a regular, integral part of contract operations, which may include tracking and coordinating activities on many fronts, assessing situations/issues that may arise and effectively discussing recommended course of action with the PM and Sr. Business Operations Manager.
- Prepare and update project plans and status reports and implement lessons learned.
- Build and maintain working relationships with team members, vendors, and corporate operations.
- Coordinate with corporate infrastructure to clearly define roles, work sharing, and effective workflow.
- Manage, maintain, and archive operations data and records, including site performance metrics, contact DRDs and all forms of contract reporting and operations information.
- Work with AMA Contracts/Procurements to track procurements and subcontracting to ensure appropriate documentation is maintained, agreements are in place and spending tasks are aligned with the plan.
- Coordinate and communicate effectively with technical and administrative staff members to address operational efficiency or emerging issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned when necessary.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of relevant experience in engineering, business or program management including supervision of personnel and strategic decision making.
- The successful candidate will have an acute sense of ownership to provide oversight and management for multiple activities and the ability to support evolving leadership priorities.
- Ability to work closely with specified personnel to facilitate effective planning and accomplishment of critical objectives in a timely manner and ensure adherence to specified plans and schedules.
- Prior experience implementing overall business process improvements and project management best practices.
- Strong ability to identify problems, determine accuracy and relevance of information, and use of sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
- Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) including experience in preparing and presenting oral and written briefings to all levels of management.
- College Degree or equivalent experience.
Desired Qualifications:
- Prior experience and knowledge of multiple business management departments, including finance, subcontracting, contracting, and purchasing
- Prior experience in managing a research and engineering workforce is desirable.
