Position Summary

The AVP, Technology Finance serves as the senior finance leader supporting Royal Caribbean Group's Technology organization and key enterprise transformation initiatives. The role provides strategic financial leadership across a technology operating expense and capital investment portfolio over $0.5B spanning digital, data, AI, cybersecurity, enterprise platforms, and technology modernization initiatives.

This role sits within the finance organization and will also be a member of the extended technology leadership team, sitting with technology leaders across the enterprise. The individual will partner closely with all Technology operating leaders: Digital, Data, AI, Cybersecurity, Product, and Enterprise Transformation leaders to shape investment decisions, optimize resource allocation, and ensure technology investments deliver measurable business value.

The successful candidate will bring deep expertise in technology finance, portfolio management, cloud and SaaS economics, and value realization. Beyond traditional FP&A leadership, this individual will serve as a strategic thought partner to executive leadership, helping evaluate trade-offs, measure the capital investments' value, and drive better business outcomes across the enterprise technology portfolio.

The AVP leads a Technology Finance organization of more than 20 professionals and is responsible for developing talent while ensuring the delivery of financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and decision-support capabilities that enable the organization to execute its strategic priorities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Strategic Technology Finance Partnership
  • Serve as the primary finance thought partner to Technology leadership, bringing fact-based insight to strategy and investment decisions across the technology operating and capital investment portfolio spanning all enterprise platforms.
  • Partner with Technology, Digital, Data & AI, Cybersecurity, Product, and Enterprise Transformation leaders to evaluate strategic opportunities, investments, and resource allocation decisions.
  • Provide an independent financial perspective and challenge assumptions to improve decision quality and ensure alignment with enterprise objectives.
  • Translate complex technology initiatives into clear business implications, financial outcomes, and executive-level recommendations.
  • Assess and communicate the financial trade-offs across competing investments, balancing growth, risk, operational efficiency, and long-term value creation.
  • Bring external technology finance best practices and industry perspectives to improve decision-making, governance, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on value of emerging technologies, operating model changes, and strategic transformation initiatives.

Technology Investment Strategy & Portfolio Management
  • Lead the financial strategy, prioritization, and portfolio management of enterprise technology investments, ensuring resources are allocated to initiatives that deliver the greatest strategic and financial value.
  • Develop and oversee frameworks that improve transparency, prioritization, and decision-making across the technology investment portfolio.
  • Partner with Technology leadership to measure investment costs and value KPIs across cloud, AI, digital, data, cybersecurity, enterprise systems, and transformation initiatives.
  • Lead financial evaluation of business cases, funding requests, and strategic technology investments to ensure alignment with enterprise priorities and expected returns.
  • Advise on capital allocation decisions, balancing near-term business needs with long-term technology modernization, innovation, and growth objectives.
  • Partner with Technology and Procurement leaders on significant vendor, software licensing, managed services, and build-versus-buy decisions.
  • Establish disciplined portfolio management processes, including investment reviews, stage-gate funding assessments, and executive decision support.

Technology Economics & Value Realization
  • Establish financial transparency and accountability mechanisms that enable leadership to evaluate investment performance, measure outcomes, and make informed portfolio decisions.
  • Develop a comprehensive view of the technology asset and investment portfolio as well as the financial and operational levers to optimize returns of the portfolio, including resource allocation, cloud and SaaS economics, productivity measurement, vendor strategies, operating model improvements, and operational efficiencies.
  • Partner with Technology leadership to establish performance metrics and success measures that link technology outcomes to business and financial results, and develop frameworks to assess, measure, and track value realization across cloud, AI, digital, cybersecurity, data, and enterprise platform initiatives.
  • Partner with Technology, Finance, and business stakeholders to ensure expected benefits are realized and reflected in long-range plans, forecasts, business cases, and performance expectations.

Finance Leadership & Organizational Effectiveness
  • Lead and develop a high-performing Technology Finance organization of more than 20 professionals that delivers strategic decision support, business insight, and financial discipline across the enterprise technology portfolio.
  • Lead, coach, and develop team members, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, business partnership, and talent development.
  • Provide leadership and oversight for financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and performance management processes, ensuring the delivery of timely, accurate, and actionable insights.
  • Drive continuous improvement across technology finance processes, tools, governance, and operating models while building the organizational capabilities necessary to support evolving technology strategies, portfolio management, investment decision-making, and value realization objectives.
  • Build strong partnerships across Technology, Finance, Accounting, Procurement, Capital Planning, Corporate Planning, and business leadership to ensure alignment on priorities, risks, opportunities, and resource allocation decisions.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field required.
  • MBA or other advanced degree preferred.

Experience
  • 15+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, including significant experience supporting Technology, Product, Engineering, Digital, Data, Cybersecurity, or enterprise platform organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience serving as a strategic finance partner to senior technology executives, influencing investment decisions, portfolio prioritization, and resource allocation.
  • Proven experience leading technology investment planning, portfolio management, business case evaluation, and value realization across large-scale technology initiatives.
  • Deep understanding of technology finance, including cloud economics, SaaS business models, software licensing, technology operating models, and total cost of ownership analysis.
  • Proven ability to build credibility with senior leaders, challenge assumptions, influence decision-making, and drive organizational change in complex, matrixed environments.
  • Demonstrated success leading and developing high-performing finance teams.
