OverviewThe Assistant Controller is a key member of our accounting team who helps drive the growth and success of our brand through high-quality financial operations and reporting. This position supports the Controller/CFO in overseeing accounting functions, financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance with regulatory standards. The role partners in identifying and implementing technology, automation, and artificial intelligence solutions that improve efficiency, strengthen controls, and enhance business insights across the accounting function.
- Continuously evaluate accounting processes and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls.
- Identify, implement, and optimize automation and artificial intelligence tools that support accounting, reporting, reconciliation, and financial close activities.
- Leverage technology and data analytics to improve decision-making, reporting accuracy, and operational effectiveness within the accounting function.
- Establish appropriate governance, review processes, and documentation standards for AI-assisted work to ensure accuracy, regulatory compliance, data security, and audit readiness.
- Stay informed on emerging accounting technologies and recommend practical applications that support business objectives while maintaining strong financial controls.

- Ability to critically review AI-generated analyses, reports, and recommendations while maintaining appropriate professional judgment.
- Understanding of data privacy, confidentiality, and controls related to financial information and AI-assisted processes.
- Highly organized with keen attention to detail.

Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, or related field. CMA or CPA certification, preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive experience with strong accounting skills.
- Demonstrated deep knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Co-op governance.
- Complex cash management experience required by leveraging multi-channels.
- Sales tax management experience in multi-states.
- Tax management experience specifically for inventory, retail, or consumer packaged goods is preferred.
- Experience leveraging automation, artificial intelligence, business intelligence, or advanced analytics tools to improve accounting, financial reporting, or operational processes is preferred.
- Must demonstrate exceptional proficiency in Excel. Experience with Access is a plus.
- Must have experience with ERP systems, Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a plus.
- Personal passion for health and fitness is a plus.
