Full Job Description
As an Artificial Intelligence Scientist IV, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of AI at Capital Group and help to establish the GenAI strategy for the Client Group. Your command of cutting-edge technology and expertise in Deep Neural Networks and Generative AI will be instrumental in bringing our visionary solutions to life, delivering groundbreaking applications that will set new standards across the asset management industry. This includes researching and developing scalable applications using Large Language Models (LLMs) and Agentic AI, such as conversational assistants to retrieve information about mutual fund products or market insights and guide clients through investment decisions.

As an independent researcher, you will provide thought leadership in discussions with product and technical leaders to transform business and product visions into groundbreaking AI applications that would help CG remain leaders in asset management. You can analyze behavioral data, market news, and economic trends to personalize investment outcomes, and develop AI tools that help sales, marketing, and service teams offer relevant solutions to financial advisors. You will design and review AI solutions with a focus on excellence, scalability, employing best practices for data management, model development, and evaluation to ensure the highest quality outcomes.

You will independently drive AI research and innovation with high conviction, collaborating with other scientists and engineers to develop and publish new industry leading ideas, and mentor a talented team of both junior and senior applied scientists, fostering growth and nurturing the next generation of AI leaders.

  • You hold a MS in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or related technical field. A PhD is preferred.
  • You have at least 10 years of relevant work experience, including asset management industry experience or as a Researcher in a lab.
  • You have practical experience with the latest advancements in Large Language Models (LLM) and generative AI technology including RAG, including parameter-efficient fine-tuning, instruction fine-tuning, advanced prompt engineering, and Agentic AI frameworks.
  • You have deep technical knowledge of Machine Learning and Deep Learning architectures, such as Transformers, training methodologies, and optimization techniques.
  • You are committed to staying current with the latest advancements in the field, applying cutting-edge academic research to solve complex business challenges, and successfully bringing innovative solutions into production.
  • You've worked effectively with software engineering teams.
  • You have contributed to research communities and preferably have published papers/blog articles related to machine learning.


Southern California Base Salary Range: $208,245-$354,017

In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital's annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
