At BCI, our Workday platform is evolving as fast as the organization around it. Were hiring a Platform Engineer who brings deep integration expertise, thinks beyond the ticket, and has a genuine interest in shaping how one of Canadas largest institutional investors operates. The person in this role wont just maintain integrations, theyll drive platform maturity, influence how we work, and leave a mark on how BCI operates. Based in Victoria, BC, the provinces capital and one of the most livable cities on Canadas west coast, or in Vancouver, youll join a Technology team that treats collaboration and continuous improvement as the norm, not the exception.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Youll own the engineering, reliability, and evolution of BCIs Workday platform, building and sustaining integrations, configuring platform capabilities, and ensuring dependable data flow and reporting across HR, Finance, Payroll, and Procurement. Partnering closely with vendors and internal teams, youll design and support robust integration solutions using modern Workday tooling and API patterns, monitor platform health, and resolve complex issues through root cause analysis. Youll set integration architecture standards, mentor engineers, lead the most complex deliverables, and shape platform strategy in partnership with the Senior Manager, while also working hands on across mid to high complexity integrations and stakeholder engagements. Your work will strengthen platform standards, security, and release readiness.

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Service Delivery (HR, Legal, CR&A, Corporate), youll work within BCIs Technology department, collaborating with stakeholders including HR, Finance, Payroll, Procurement, Cyber Security, Risk, and external vendors.

The Technology department is BCIs innovation catalyst and digital transformation engine, pioneering the future of institutional investment through cutting edge technology solutions. We architect next generation platforms powered by AI and cloud native technologies that drive investment excellence and operational efficiency.

Collaboration is central to how work gets done, with cross functional teams focused on building reliable platforms, enabling intelligent automation, and supporting well governed business processes.

WHAT YOU BRING
  • Bachelors degree in a relevant field, or equivalent experience

  • Hands-on Workday integration development experience, preferably in a mid-to-large enterprise environment

  • Workday security experience including PGP encryption and integration security configuration

  • Experience supporting Workday HCM and at least one additional module: Financials, Payroll, or Procurement

  • Proficiency in Workday integration tools: Workday Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, Cloud Connect, and Workday Orchestrate

  • Strong technical skills using XSLT (including ETV and XTT), XML, JSON, SOAP, and REST APIs

  • Hands-on experience with Workday development including orchestration, PMD scripting, and UI components

  • Proficiency in Workday Report Writer including Advanced, Matrix, and Composite reports, calculated fields, and BIRT reporting

  • Experience with Agile (Lean, Kanban, or Scrum) and DevOps methods and practices

  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills; able to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and present solutions to leadership

  • Workday integration certification (Integration Core, Studio, and/or Extend) strongly preferred

  • Proven experience leading integration architecture decisions and setting team standards

  • Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical design reviews

  • Track record of leading semi-annual release planning across multiple modules

Preferred
  • Familiarity with Workday Prism Analytics; working knowledge of SQL, data modeling, and ETL concepts

  • Experience with Azure or cloud-based integration patterns

  • Demonstrated proficiency using AI assistants and/or agentic tools to accelerate Workday configuration, troubleshooting, and automation

  • Exposure to the investment management or financial services industry

WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Leads the technical delivery and continuous improvement of Workday integrations and platform capabilities on a regular cadence as part of a service delivery team

  • Serves as the technical subject matter expert (SME) for the Workday platform, including integrations, and reporting capabilities

  • Designs, develops, tests, and maintains inbound and outbound Workday integrations using Workday Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, Cloud Connect, and Workday Orchestrate

  • Develops platform maturity roadmaps with an understanding of business objectives and technical needs and identifies opportunities for standardization, automation, and optimization across the Workday ecosystem

  • Develops, enhances, and maintains Workday custom reports (Advanced, Matrix, and Composite), calculated fields, and dashboards to support operational and analytical needs across Finance, HCM, Payroll, and Procurement

  • Delivers projects and develops technical documentation including integration specifications, field mappings, and standard operating procedures, ensuring all deliverables meet internal technology governance standards

  • Monitors integration health, scheduled jobs, alerts, and notifications; proactively identifies and resolves issues before they impact business operations; leads root cause analysis and communicates findings and remediation plans to stakeholders

  • Participates in Workday semi-annual release reviews; assesses the impact of new features on existing integrations, develops readiness plans, and coordinates integration testing prerequisites

  • Analyzes business requirements and proposes scalable technical solutions; challenges assumptions, thinks critically, and brings ideas to the table rather than simply building to spec

  • Contributes to platform governance practices including change management, security administration, and access controls in line with BCIs technology directives; supports risk and security assessments in collaboration with Cyber Security and Risk teams

  • Creates and maintains positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders across HR, Finance, Payroll, Procurement, and Technology

  • Cultivates and shares Workday knowledge with others through internal technical communities, Workday Community engagement, and documentation artifacts to create a strong culture of team-based collaboration

  • Applies knowledge of Agile methods and continuously improves delivery performance through delivery reporting and tracking, backlog development and grooming, sprint or increment planning, and participating in retrospectives

  • Sets integration architecture standards and leads technical design reviews across the Workday ecosystem

  • Provides guidance, mentorship, and training to Platform Engineers

  • Leads the most complex, high-stakes integration projects and stakeholder engagements
