Position PurposeThe Warehouse Section Supervisor is responsible for leading warehouse office operations that support manufacturing, inventory management, shipping, receiving, and transportation activities. This role oversees inbound and outbound logistics processes, inventory accuracy across onsite and offsite warehouse locations, and material movement necessary to support uninterrupted production operations.
The Warehouse Section Supervisor provides leadership to warehouse office personnel, ensures compliance with safety and regulatory requirements, and drives continuous improvement initiatives focused on service, cost, inventory accuracy, and operational performance. This position serves as a key liaison between Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Transportation, Customer Service, and third-party logistics (3PL) partners to ensure materials and finished goods are delivered accurately, safely, and on time.
Key Responsibilities- Lead, coach, develop, and supervise warehouse office personnel to ensure safe, efficient, and effective operations.
- Establish performance expectations and hold team members accountable for safety, quality, delivery, and inventory objectives.
- Support employee training, onboarding, cross-training, and professional development initiatives.
- Create and maintain a positive, engaged, and high-performing work environment.
- Oversee inventory management activities across onsite and offsite warehouse locations.
- Ensure inventory accuracy through effective warehouse controls, reconciliation activities, and continuous monitoring of inventory transactions.
- Coordinate material movements to support manufacturing operations and customer requirements.
- Manage inventory processes related to held, quarantined, returned, and scrap materials.
- Monitor and improve warehouse processes to maximize efficiency and material availability.
- Plan and coordinate inbound shipments including truck, air, ocean, and parcel deliveries.
- Coordinate outbound shipments using ground, parcel, truckload, air freight, and ocean transportation.
- Schedule carriers, freight forwarders, and transportation providers to ensure timely shipment execution.
- Ensure shipping documentation is completed accurately, including packing slips, commercial invoices, customs documentation, freight calculations, and related records.
- Manage transportation activities to support on-time delivery performance while controlling logistics costs.
- Process and monitor shipment activity to ensure compliance with customer, regulatory, and company requirements.
- Partner with Manufacturing, Planning, Procurement, Transportation, Customer Service, and Warehouse Operations teams to ensure uninterrupted material flow and customer satisfaction.
- Communicate process changes and drive implementation of new procedures and best practices.
- Support supply chain initiatives and strategic projects that improve operational performance.
- Work collaboratively with third-party logistics providers to maintain service levels and performance expectations.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on inventory accuracy, material flow, transportation efficiency, cost reduction, and customer service performance.
- Monitor and report key performance indicators (KPIs), including:
- Inventory Accuracy
- On-Time Shipment Performance
- Transportation Costs
- Backorder Performance
- Warehouse Productivity
- Material Availability
- Carrier Performance
- Lead corrective actions and problem-solving activities to address operational issues and process gaps.
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and training materials.
- Ensure compliance with all Corning, local, state, federal, and international environmental, health, safety, and transportation regulations.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Maintain required records, documentation, and filing systems in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Identify and address safety concerns, risks, and unsafe practices within the operation.
Work Hours- Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- Flexible hours may be required to support business needs, including evenings, weekends, and occasional coverage of warehouse operations operating on a 12-hour shift schedule.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5+ years of experience in warehouse, logistics, distribution, inventory management, or supply chain operations.
- Previous supervisory, team lead, or project leadership experience.
- Experience supporting manufacturing operations in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with inventory control processes and warehouse operations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and business reporting tools.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience with SAP, ERP, and/or Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with international shipping, export documentation, and customs requirements.
- Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma Green Belt, DMAIC, or other continuous improvement certifications.
- Experience managing third-party logistics (3PL) providers.
- Knowledge of transportation, distribution, and warehouse optimization principles.
This position does not support immigration sponsorship. The range for this position is $92,092.00 - $126,627.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
