The Vice President of Marketing at Commerce.com sets and drives the marketing strategy for a business unit called Feedonomics — spanning demand generation, product marketing, brand, customer advocacy, and retention across all customer segments. This is an executive leadership role for someone who can operate as a strategic partner to the C-suite while staying close enough to the work to shape a pipeline forecast, a brand platform, and a customer story in the same week.
You'll own the marketing P&L, build and scale a multi-functional organization through your Directors, and be the executive voice for marketing across the business. You'll set the segment strategy that your team executes against, ensuring marketing's seat at the table in company-wide planning, and make the resourcing and investment calls that determine where marketing dollars create the most value. If you love setting direction as much as you love getting into the details when it matters, this role is built for you.
What You'll Do:
Marketing Strategy & Vision
- Set the overall marketing strategy for Feedonomics, connecting brand, demand generation, product marketing, and customer advocacy into one coherent narrative and operating plan
- Define how marketing prioritizes across customer segments (including Mid Market and Enterprise), balancing near-term pipeline needs against long-term brand and category investment
- Represent marketing in company-wide strategic planning, working directly with the CMO and executive leadership team to align marketing investment with business priorities
Revenue & Pipeline Ownership
- Own the marketing-sourced pipeline and revenue number across all segments, with full accountability for forecasting, performance, and in-flight strategy adjustments
- Set budget and resource allocation across demand generation, product marketing, brand, and retention functions, and defend that investment with clear ROI
- Partner with Sales and Finance leadership on shared revenue targets, funnel efficiency, and go-to-market alignment
Brand & Product Marketing Leadership
- Own the company's brand positioning for Feedonomics & BigCommerce and ensure segment-level messaging (led by your team) rolls up into one consistent, differentiated market position
- Set the go-to-market strategy for major product launches and act as the executive sponsor connecting Product, Sales, and Marketing on roadmap and positioning decisions
- Ensure the voice of the customer — across every segment — is represented at the leadership table
Customer Advocacy & Retention Strategy
- Set the strategy for turning customers into advocates and reducing churn through marketing-led retention and expansion programs
- Champion customer marketing as a growth lever, not a support function, and ensure it's resourced and measured accordingly. Will be measured on NPS.
- Partner with Customer Success leadership on a shared lifecycle strategy from first touch through renewal and expansion
Organizational & People Leadership
- Build, lead, and scale a marketing team, setting the standard for speed, ownership, and storytelling across the function
- Recruit, develop, and retain senior marketing leaders; build a bench of talent ready to grow into bigger roles
- Create a culture where marketing moves fast without sacrificing brand integrity, and where every leader in the org is accountable for a number, not just activity
Executive & Cross-Functional Partnership
- Serve as marketing's executive partner to Sales, Product, Customer Success, and Shared Services leadership, setting the operating model that lets segment teams move quickly
- Own marketing's relationship with the executive team and, where applicable, the Board — communicating strategy, performance, and market insight clearly and confidently
- Model the strategic thinking, storytelling, and analytical rigor you expect from every leader on your team
Who You Are:
- 12+ years of marketing experience, including significant time in a senior leadership role owning multi-function marketing organizations (demand generation, product marketing, brand, and customer marketing/retention)
- A track record of owning a company-level pipeline or revenue number and being accountable for it at the executive level, not just within a single segment or channel
- Significant people leadership experience — you've built and scaled marketing organizations through managers of managers, and you know how to develop senior leaders, not just individual contributors
- Executive presence and communication skills — you're comfortable setting strategy in the boardroom and just as comfortable getting into the details of a campaign brief or customer story
- A track record of setting brand and go-to-market strategy that holds together across multiple segments or product lines
- Exceptional cross-functional leadership — you've operated as a true peer to Sales, Product, and Customer Success leadership, not just a marketing service provider
- Comfort operating in ambiguity at the company level — you set direction with incomplete information and adjust as the market and business evolve
- Experience marketing to small business and/or other core Commerce.com customer segments is a strong plus
- Strong business and analytical instincts — equally fluent in a board-level revenue model and a brand platform
What Success Looks Like:
- The company consistently hits or exceeds its marketing-sourced pipeline and revenue targets across all segments
- A marketing organization that is motivated, growing, and consistently shipping high-quality, fast work
- A clear, differentiated brand and product narrative that holds together across every customer segment and go-to-market motion
- A steady, scaling engine of customer advocacy and retention programs that measurably reduce churn and grow expansion revenue
- Marketing is seen by the executive team, Sales, Product, and Customer Success as a strategic growth driver and a trusted partner at the leadership table — not a support function
