Vice President, State Government AffairsAs the Vice President of State Government Affairs, you will report to the Executive Vice President of Government Affairs and will have unique opportunity to expand and lead a robust advocacy program representing ITI's priorities to state governments across the United States. This pivotal role offers the chance to lead a state government affairs function, working closely with ITI member companies and across the organization with other teams to influence the future of tech policy at the state level.
Key Responsibilities:Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute a comprehensive strategic plan to expand ITI's state government affairs function.
- Identify, recruit, onboard, and manage a team of government affairs professionals and consultants as needed to support the growing function.
- Develop and coordinate state policy objectives with ITI Government Affairs, Public Sector and Policy teams to ensure cohesive positioning on state and federal policy matters.
- Provide strategic guidance and intelligence to member companies on priority state legislation nationwide and develop and execute engagement strategies that deliver results.
Advocacy and Relationship Building
- Represent ITI member company priorities before state policymakers nationwide by providing in-person testimony, drafting position letters, submitting regulatory comments, and meeting directly with government stakeholders.
- Personally initiate and cultivate relationships at the most senior levels of state governments.
- Expand ITI's presence in state-level policy discussions and advance member priorities through strategic legislation and regulatory measures.
- Maintain a framework to support ITI and its member companies in the sector's political engagement.
- Forge strategic partnerships with key organizations that represent or directly engage with state officials, related third parties, and trade associations.
Member Engagement and Compliance
- Manage ITI's State Government Relations Committee by convening regular meetings, building consensus among member companies on state government affairs priorities, and providing timely, detailed updates on key legislative developments.
- Develop a deep understanding of ITI policy positions and past legislative efforts and translate them into state-level initiatives.
- Manage systems to ensure legal compliance with state lobbying registration requirements.
Operational Management
- Execute all aspects of the state government affairs function.
- Maintain a scalable organizational structure to support future team growth.
- Manage budgets, resources, and performance metrics for the state government affairs function.
Your qualifications:- 10+ years of experience in state government affairs.
- Broad knowledge of technology industry policy.
- Previous experience in state government and/or trade association experience, a plus.
- Experience in solo project management and execution.
- Strong network of contacts in state government affairs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong leadership, strategic planning, and execution capabilities.
- Proficiency in identifying, monitoring, and analyzing state legislative activities.
- Track record of success in managing advocacy campaigns.
- BA/BS degree in political science, policy, business administration, or related field required. Advanced degree preferred.
- Flexibility for up to 50% travel.

Pay range: $260,000 - 285,000
