Position Summary

The Vice Dean is the senior operations leader of the School of Business & Technology and a strategic partner to the Dean. The Vice Dean is responsible for managing day-to-day academic activities, leading strategic initiatives, and is the liaison for ACBSP accreditation. This critical role plays a pivotal part in enhancing the School's reputation, expanding its reach, and ensuring its programs meet the evolving needs of the business landscape.

Essential Functions:

Job duties must be performed, with or without reasonable accommodation, and may include any of the following tasks, knowledge, skills, and other characteristics.   • Supports the Dean in the successful deployment of strategic initiatives, including the design, implementation, support, and continuous improvement of courses, programs, and services of the School.
  • Provides oversight and day-to-day support for faculty within the School of Business and Technology; addresses faculty requests and student issues in a timely manner. Informs the Dean of issues as appropriate. Serves as a liaison among staff, students, faculty, and the Dean.
  • Collaborates with faculty and graduate program director to ensure program quality and effectiveness and to promote student learning, student satisfaction, enrollment, and student retention.
  • Develops the course schedule, assigns faculty (both full-time and adjunct), and leads the hiring process for adjunct faculty.
  • Provides support for assessment processes and program reviews.
  • Serves as the university champion for ACBSP accreditation.
  • Coordinates timely course observations of full time and adjunct faculty.
  • Assists in the preparation of University materials such as the university catalog and marketing materials.
  • Coordinates the maintenance and distribution of School-related policies and documentation.
  • Coordinates School curriculum review, revision, and/or development.
  • Serves as program administrator for RIZE, dual enrollment, and other specialized programs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Dean, VPAA, or President of the University.

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Master's degree in a related business area required, doctorate preferred.
  • At least 3 years of administrative experience in higher education.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of business and technology education at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Strong skills in project management, collaboration, critical thinking, and problem solving.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.


Work Environment:

  • Operates in an office environment that may have frequent interruptions.
  • The area is well-lit, temperature controlled and free from hazards.
  • Noise level is generally quiet to moderate.


Physical Requirements:

  • Communicates frequently, in person, over the phone, or via a computer.
  • Hearing is needed for extensive telephone and in person communication.
  • Regularly required to sit for long periods of time; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms.
  • Manual dexterity is needed to operate a computer keyboard.
  • Operates standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.
