Position SummaryThe Value Stream Manager (VSM) is responsible for the leadership of the manufacturing processes, products, and personnel of the assigned value stream to achieve key performance indicators in Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
The VSM will provide direct leadership for the Production, Quality, and Engineering resources, as well as dotted line leadership to Maintenance personnel.
The VSM is responsible to bring new product and/or processes to market on time and within budget utilizing the NPI stage gate process. They will continually improve the systems, processes, and personnel resulting in increased performance of the value stream.
Lastly, the VSM will apply techniques in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Integrated Management System, APQP, TPM, etc. to achieve best practices and value for all stakeholders.
Essential Functions- Responsible for ensuring all metrics for Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost for the organization are met and trending in the right direction.
- Develops and adheres to the annual operating and CAPEX budget. Has full P&L responsibility for the Value Stream including the preparation of quotations for the customer(s), inventory valuation, and labor & material variance to standard.
- Activley particpate in the New Product / Process Introduction (NPI) stage gate process. Take part in Statement of Work (SOW), project review meetings, provide input on a continuous improvement projects, planning of new equipment, and assure project tasks and deadlines are met.
- Monitor the capacity of the assigned Value Stream (man, material, machine, and measurement) making sure capacities are not exceeded. Advise and plan when additional capital, Hoshin projects, and/or overtime is required.
- Interfaces with all areas of the company, customers and suppliers on all issues.
- Support and monitor the procurement of Tooling, Equipment, components, infra structure, and items related to continuous improvement ideas that requires new material.
- Support Engineering trials for new business development and continuous improvement.
- Support addition of new suppliers in regards to:
- Assist Supply Chain on the quote development when needed;
- Provide support if it requires team's input, trials, SOW, etc.
- Work with Supply Chain to manage supplier needs during onboarding process, quotes, etc.
- Provides direct leadership to Production, Quality, and Engineering resources assigned to the Value Stream. Works closely with Supply Chain, Human Resources, EH&S, and Administrative departments to lead the overall success of the company.
- Ensures the company develops and continually improves the Integrated Management System in accordance with AS9100, NADCAP, S1000, ISO14001, ISO45001, industry standards and customer requirements.
- Provides visionary leadership for best in class manufacturing.
- Ensures JIT, FIFO, Kanban, supply chain management systems are in place and utilized appropriately.
- Promotes Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) methodologies and ensures pillars are consistently used throughout the facility.
- Ensures internal & external audits and surveys are compliant to the Integrated Management System, industry standards, and customer requirements occur as planned.
- Participates in Root Cause Corrective Action activities to permanently eliminate defects. Utilizes 8D and DMAIC approach to problem solving and non-conformances.
- Adheres to the Company's Quality and Safety Management System and in accordance with its procedures and requirements.
- Utilizes Lean and Six Sigma methods to drive Key Performance Indicators for Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
- Leads and participates in Kaizen events, promote positive employee environment, and community involvement.
- Responsible for the Learning Management System (LMS) including creation, delivery, and application of training materials related to their Value Stream. Documented training courses based on the skills per job description.

Work EnvironmentThis job operates in both an office environment and a manufacturing environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment, such as computes, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The individual will be required to adhere to safety policies and procedures on the manufacturing floor.
Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms.
The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Position Type/Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full-time position, Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm, with additional hours as business needs necessitate.
TravelOccasional overseas and domestic travel may be required to support the rapid growth of the company.
Education- Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical, Chemical or Materials Science Engineering.

Skills- Ten years of manufacturing experience is required.
- Proven project leadership experience in the Operations, Quality or Engineering field. Ability in managing the strict deadlines of production needs.
- NPI / APQP experience is required.
- Experience with ERP systems required. Implementation experience is preferred.
- IS09001, AS9100, NADCAP, GE S1000, ISO14000, Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing experience required.
- Ability to build and energize a strong positive team environment.
- Thermal spray, slurry manufacturing, machining experience is strongly preferred.
- New company startup, Joint Venture, and/or high growth (20%+) experience preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of quality assurance programs and engineering method & principles. MRL and TRL experience is preferred.
- TPM applications and leadership experience is strongly preferred.
- Must be able to read, analyze and interpret blueprints and specifications. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, plans, blueprints, schematics and technical data.
- Ability to interpret and write technical procedures and documents.
- Position requires experience, initiative, ingenuity and the ability to work independently to produce the highest level of quality and productivity against established standards.
