Full Job Description
Primary Function

The Used Equipment Asset Manager is responsible for optimizing the financial performance and market readiness of the company's approximately $100M used equipment fleet. The role provides asset-level oversight and analysis to support sound investment decisions, fleet lifecycle planning, and effective collaboration across Used Equipment, Sales, Service, and Branch Operations.

Essential Duties

Used Fleet Repair & Reconditioning Management
  • Direct repair and reconditioning activities to achieve the optimal return relative to cost of service and expected equipment value
  • Partner with Branch Management and Heavy Shops to ensure repair scopes are clear, work is completed timely, and costs are appropriately controlled
  • Review service calls and significant repairs to identify opportunities to reduce maintenance and repair costs
  • Maximize available warranty recovery for CAT and Allied used equipment

Asset Performance & Lifecycle Management
  • Develop and maintain fleet lifecycle plans that maximize utilization, return on investment, and overall asset value
  • Analyze fleet condition, utilization, cost of ownership, and key performance data to identify risks and improvement opportunities
  • Develop methods to track trends and measure asset performance over time
  • Conduct monthly fleet reviews with Branch Management to evaluate condition, repair status, and disposition opportunities


Acquisition, Disposal & Capital Planning

  • Provide asset-based recommendations for used equipment acquisitions and disposals in collaboration with the Used Equipment Manager and Used Sales Representatives
  • Identify repair-versus-dispose opportunities based on expected return, marketability, and lifecycle economics
  • Provide analysis and recommendations to support capital expenditure and annual capital budget decisions

Asset Management Standards & Continuous Improvement
  • Develop and recommend asset management policies, procedures, and best practices based on fleet lifecycle, utilization, cost of ownership, and technician capabilities
  • Produce and distribute periodic asset reports that support informed fleet management decisions
  • Partner with the Used Equipment Manager and other stakeholders to identify and implement opportunities to improve fleet performance, processes, and profitability


Minimum Requirements

Education

Bachelor's degree in business management or related field; related experience could be considered.

Work Experience

  • 5+ years' experience in asset or material management experience preferably in the equipment rental industry or construction equipment industry.


Physical

  • Ability and willingness to travel as required for meetings or asset tracking field work throughout the territory.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours beyond the normal schedule when necessary.
  • Must be able to sit for long periods using the telephone and computer.


Other

  • Strong knowledge in construction equipment maintenance, construction equipment service department operational procedures and processes.
  • Proven ability to drive process improvement, including the effective use of technology and automation.
  • Must have intermediate PC skills in MS Office, especially Excel, Word and asset management software/ other relevant ERP applications.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
