AIG Insurance Company of Canada Construction unit is looking for a Senior Underwriting Specialist. The unit writes Construction risks for all occupancies across Canada and internationally for our global clients.
How you will create an impact
- Manage and service an existing CAR/EAR portfolio
- Produce and underwrite new accounts through brokers Nationally
- Coverage analysis of manuscript forms with the ability to tailor them to specific client needs
- Pricing analysis using data analytics and modeling tools
- Deliver presentations and market to brokers and insureds to effectively communicate AIG’s value proposition
- Help achieve set budget targets through organic growth and new business opportunities
- Assist with budgeted profitability targets as identified by senior management
- Mentor less experienced team members in technical underwriting areas
- Maintain files, execute on strategy, understand and comply with internal guidelines, authority rules and regulations
- Be part of the peer review system, provide active feedback on portfolio analysis, market trends both domestically and globally
What you’ll need to succeed
- Advanced level understanding of the Construction market, applicable insurance products, loss trends and engineering issues of specific segments (mining, oil and gas, power/utilities)
- High level of proficiency with different pricing tools, actuarial techniques, risk selection.
- Advanced experience underwriting Construction product lines.
- Advanced negotiation skills, ability to build, maintain and expand relationship with key broker partners and clients
- Experience working with loss control engineering data
- Post-secondary education (engineering degree is a plus) OR equivalent industry training and experience. Insurance industry accreditation is desirable
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently to meet deadlines, as well as in a team to accomplish goals
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills
- Candidate should be results-oriented
- Strong working knowledge of the various applications in the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.)
