SUMMARY:Providehealth care for individuals in theprimary care cliniccommensuratewith training andin accordance withthe general policies and standards of practice, asestablishedby the clinic.Deliverscareappropriate foraprimary care clinicwith a multicultural patient population. Elicits detailed patient histories and conducts complete physician examinations. Reaches diagnosis and ordersappropriate laboratorytests and referrals, etc., as well ascounselspatient and family on health and disease.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Position Description

Physicianreportsdirectly totheChairfor Family Medicineandisprimarily responsible for the provision ofhigh qualitymedicalcare to ourpatients.This staff physician will belocatedatUHealthSolemia.This position is 100% FTE with a full clinical deployment of 9 clinic sessions per week.

Physicians must also:

  • Provide all physician caregenerally providedat aprimary carefacility.

  • Actively manage all aspects of patient care while on shift.

  • Supervise and direct the centers other clinical staff (Medical Assistants,etc.).

  • Collect biological specimens and process them in the laboratory for testing.

  • Ensure that all charts and medical records are accurately completedin a timely manner; and

  • Adhereto all clinical policies and procedures.

  • Responsible for the delivery of care, treatment, and referrals.Arrange forreferral resources for those medical specialties not providedat theprimary careclinic.

  • Evaluate patients, based on medical training and/or specialty, todeterminethe medical condition of the patient, through the performance of physical examinations,thereby,establishinga diagnosis and proposed treatment plan.

  • Maintainahigh standard of medical practice andparticipatein the traininganddevelopment of the medical team.

  • Assistin medical education of both the patients and clinic staff.

  • Facilitates the patients transition within and between health care settings; refer and transfer patients for follow-up and/or specialtycare anddischarge patients.

  • As a member of the health care team, exemplify an exampleinattitude toward patients and staff, thereby, performing duties with respect, dignity, privacy, and modesty to the patients.

  • Participate in the development of clinic protocols and formulary.Make recommendations, suggestions, etc., on chart information forms.

  • Document each on site/in office procedure, prescription,consultationand patient contact in patients chart and on the clinics encounter forms, within a 24-hour period.

  • Counselpatientregardingmedical and other problems which might affectpatientshealth and well-being.

  • Perform such clinical procedures forpatients benefitwhichare within scope and skill of practitioner/specialistand which are economicallyfeasible.

  • Provide direction and leadership to the clinics medical supportstaff,with regard tothe administering of a patients care.

  • Provide supervision in case assignment to nurse practitioner/physician assistant, including sign off on charts, where applicable.

  • Perform other job-related duties, as may be assigned, by theChairof Family Medicineand Community Health.

Required Credentials:

  • Doctoral Degree,MDorDO, andFlorida Physician Licenserequired.

  • Threeyearsof experience inareaofFamily Medicine.

  • Graduation fromanACGME Family Medicine Residency Program.

  • Board certification inFamily Medicine.

  • Current active state and federal DEA license.

  • Current CPR Certification.
