Full Job Description
Transportation Project Engineer I or II to join our team in Cleveland, OH, someone who's excited to lead impactful roadway and active transportation projects that reflect our mission and values.

What You'll Do

If you are on the civil design track, you'll be part of an interdisciplinary team to deliver multimodal transportation infrastructure in a wide range of contexts from roadway reconstructions and streetscapes in highly urban settings to signature trail projects in suburban and rural areas that highlight and enhance the natural environment. You use programs such as AutoCAD and/or MicroStation in order to fulfill production work on your projects. You will manage tasks on projects from concept development, design review, bid package development, permitting, and construction management. You will help develop construction documents; and work with your team to ensure that our projects are consistently of the highest quality.

If you're on the transportation design track, you'll assist in the creation of signing and pavement marking plans, maintenance of traffic, and traffic signal plans for roadway projects and streetscapes in urban settings. You will use programs such as Synchro, Highway Capacity Software, MicroStation, and AutoCAD to fulfill production work on your projects. You'll use state of the art tools and practices to help create sustainable multimodal transportation networks. You'll also have the opportunity to work on a wide spectrum of projects that inform your design work, including road diet analyses, multimodal traffic studies for new development, roundabout studies, trail/roadway intersection studies and designs, and parking studies and design guidance.

What You Bring
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in civil engineering
  • PE license (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
  • 6+ years of experience developing roadway/highway construction documents (8+ for Project Engineer II)
  • Strong background in civil engineering (roadway and geometric design, 3D modeling, accessible design)
  • Experience with signing and pavement marking, including MUTCD standards, as well as familiarity with PROWAG requirements
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following: MicroStation (including InRoads and/or OpenRoads Designer), AutoCAD (including Civil 3D)

Bonus Skills
  • Experience with multimodal transportation projects and multidisciplinary coordination (utilities, ROW, signals, etc.)
  • Experience with permitting, agency coordination, construction documentation, and cost estimating
  • Exposure to construction management
  • Familiarity with local agencies such as ODOT

We are targeting a salary range for this position:
  • Project Engineer: $90,000-$100,000 without a PE; $100,000-$110,000 with a PE
  • Project Engineer II: $105,000-$115,000 without a PE; $115,000-$125,000 with a PE
