As a Transportation Analyst (Policy), you will:
- Develop, review, and facilitate the development of new public transportation legislation, regulation, and guidance.
- Perform ad-hoc data analyses, develop reports and presentations, and communicate results as assigned.
- Support Office of Policy Review and Development activities as assigned, including drafting and reviewing documents, and tracking deliverables.
The ideal candidate will have experience with transportation policy at the federal level, communicating and collaborating across organizational boundaries, managing projects independently, and working in an environment with a diverse portfolio of assignments.

QualificationsTo meet the minimum qualifications for this position, you must meet the specialized experience qualifications for the grade at which you are requesting consideration.
To qualify for the Grade 12, you must have at least one year of experience equal or equivalent to the GS-11 it must include:- Experience analyzing or implementing transportation policies and programs.
- Experience gathering and analyzing data, developing reports and presentations, and communicating findings to management officials.
To qualify for the Grade 13, you must have at least one year of experience equal or equivalent to the GS-12, it must include:- Experience demonstrating the ability to manage long-term projects, including formulation of requirements, resource identification, project execution, and after-action review.
- Experience communicating with management officials to obtain information, resolve issues, and support informed decision-making.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
- Strategic Thinking: Examines policy issues and strategic planning with a long-term perspective. Determines objectives and sets priorities; anticipates potential issues or opportunities.
- Problem Solving: Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgement to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
- Written Communication: Writes in a clear, concise, organized, and convincing manner for the intended audience.
- Project Management: Knows principles, methods, and tools for developing, scheduling, coordinating, and managing projects and resources.
- Partnering: Develops networks and builds alliances; collaborates across boundaries to build strategic relationships and achieve common goals.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
