Full Job Description
Position Summary:

Responsible for ensuring that products are tested and certified to industry and government standards. Support R&D testing for the broader engineering teams, along with other Product Support activities as conditions require.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, schedule, and execute annual certification testing. Ensure test lab capacity is available taking into account test complexity, volume, installation support, and other factors.
  • Review previous certification test plans and optimize for cost. Ensure test plans will comply to revised or new test standards. Review product application guidelines for redundancy and identify worst case scenarios.
  • Work with the Test Engineering Coordinator to develop a list of products that need to be ordered along with timing and other factors, and to coordinate installation support as needed.
  • Oversee certification testing at the test lab. Install simple setups and supervise installers for more complex setups. Test lab staff performs the testing.
  • Help troubleshoot test failures and communicate with appropriate engineering team or production facility.
  • Help develop test plans to product development engineers based on past experience and knowledge of industry standards.
  • Assist product development teams with R&D testing.
  • Support claim investigations and develop in-house tests as needed.
  • As a member of the Product Support team, assist the team with the technical hotline or other team related tasks as required.
  • Remain current on product lines, installation guides, planning guides, and planning rules.
  • Ensure deep knowledge of standards. Able to provide guidance, interpret unclear requirements, understand impact of test standard changes on Teknion products.
  • Maintain in house R&D test lab equipment (ie. Cycle test equipment, force gauges, etc).
  • Stay current on proposed draft certification standards, and make recommendations if beneficial.
  • Consistently follows EHS general rules and procedures and is aware of the EHS policy.
  • Demonstrates good initiative for working safely, reporting and participating in EHS.


Qualifications:

  • Mechanical Engineer/Technician. A degree/diploma in a related field will be considered.
  • 2-5 years experience in an engineering environment.
  • Test standards with respect to furniture and electrics (Bifma & UL), or experience reading and learning Standards Documents.
  • Solidworks CAD and PDM software (or other 3D CAD/PDM software) is an asset. Common office software (MS Office, Google Suite), with particular knowledge and experience in creating and manipulating spreadsheets (Excel, Google Sheets).
  • Experience in the reading and interpretation of detailed drawings, and knowledge of manufacturing processes (metal, wood, aluminum/plastic extruding, casting/injection moulding) are an asset.

The expected base salary range for this position $74,410.00 - $93,000.00. Final base salary offers will reflect an assessment of the selected candidate's skills, demonstrated competencies, and adherence to our internal pay equity framework.
