Telecom Network Solution Architect Category: Software Development/ Engineering
Main location: Canada, Ontario, Toronto
Position ID:J1026-2184
Employment Type: Full Time
Position Description: We are looking for a client facing Solution Architect with a strong pre sales mindset who can work with CTO organizations to identify business and operational challenges, translate them into end to end technology solutions, and shape compelling proposals that deliver measurable business outcomes.
The role sits at the intersection of business, telecom technology, architecture, Design and operational strategy. The Solution Architect connects the dots across the client's priorities, existing environment, CGI capabilities, technology vendors, hyperscalers and ecosystem partners.
This is not simply a technical architecture position. The architect must understand:
Why does the client need to change? → What outcome matters? → What capabilities are required? → How do we deliver and measure the outcome?
Your future duties and responsibilities: - Engage with telecom clients, including technical and executive stakeholders, to understand network priorities, operational challenges, and transformation goals.
- Translate client needs into solution concepts, target architectures, roadmaps, and proposals.
- Connect architecture across relevant network domains, such as RAN, IP and transport, mobile core, cloud-native network functions, OSS, and network services.
- Identify opportunities involving 5G, network automation and orchestration, network slicing, edge, and evolving network architectures.
- Lead discovery workshops and solution discussions; present technical recommendations clearly to both business and technical audiences.
- Support opportunity shaping, estimates, proposals, RFP/RFI responses, and business cases with account, business development, and delivery teams.
- Explain how proposed solutions can improve network performance, resiliency, operating efficiency, automation, service introduction, or customer experience.
- Work with internal specialists, vendors, and partners to develop solutions suited to the client's environment and delivery needs.
- Consider implementation approach, dependencies, risks, and commercial factors when shaping a solution.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role: - 15+ years of relevant experience in telecom network architecture, solution architecture, technology consulting, or a related field.
- Strong end-to-end understanding of telecom networks and how key domains work together.
- Experience with 4G/LTE and 5G, and familiarity with current network evolution. Depth in one or more areas such as core, IP/transport, RAN, or network services is valuable.
- Ability to understand a client's network challenge and turn it into a practical, supportable solution.
- Experience contributing to pre-sales or consulting activities such as discovery, solution presentations, proposals, estimates, or RFP/RFI responses.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts in terms of client needs, business outcomes, and trade-offs.
- Experience working with telecom operators, network vendors, or teams delivering solutions in multi-vendor environments.
- Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Willingness to work with clients and attend CGI or client offices in Toronto as required.
Useful additional experience
- Network automation, orchestration, service assurance, or closed-loop operations.
- Cloud-native network functions, private 4G/5G, edge/MEC, or network APIs.
- Telecom standards or frameworks, including TM Forum.
- Practical familiarity with AI, GenAI, or agentic AI as they relate to network operations and autonomous networks.
CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $115,000-$165,000. This role is an existing vacancy.
