This role is part of Advanced Concepts and Enterprise Engineering (ACE), supporting Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. The team fosters innovation and drives engineering workflows of the future, shared solutions and standards, simplicity and lower costs, and manufacturable design.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Specialist to serve as a technical leader supporting test campaigns and development system builds. In this hybrid role, you will act as both a technical coordinator -driving planning, orchestration, and execution of test activities-and a hands-on advisor who oversees the progress and quality of system integration and builds. You will bridge the gap between engineering, test, and production teams, ensuring that hardware is built, integrated, and tested on schedule and to specification.

This role is ideal for a technically deep professional who thrives at the intersection of project coordination and engineering execution.

Responsibilities

System Build Oversight
  • Provide technical oversight and guidance throughout system integration and rapid prototyping activities.
  • Monitor build progress against schedule, proactively identifying and mitigating risks to delivery.
  • Act as a technical advisor to build efforts, resolving integration challenges and providing hands-on troubleshooting support.
  • Ensure builds adhere to engineering specifications, drawings, work instructions, and quality requirements.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective action for build and test anomalies.
  • Drive continuous improvement in test and build processes, tools, and documentation.

Test Campaign Leadership
  • Serve as the technical project coordinator for ongoing test campaigns, maintaining detailed test plans, schedules, and milestones.
  • Translate engineering requirements into actionable plans for build and test teams.
  • Communicate status, risks, and technical issues clearly to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Orchestrate cross-functional resources-engineering, test operations, quality and technicians-to execute test campaigns safely and efficiently.
  • Collaborate with customers to define test objectives, success criteria, and readiness requirements.
  • Participate in test readiness reviews, pre-test briefings, and post-test debriefs.
  • Track test progress, identify risks and blockers, and drive resolution to keep campaigns on schedule.
  • Ensure test procedures, data collection, and documentation meet quality and configuration management standards.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in test operations, system integration, hardware builds, or a related technical field.
  • Demonstrated experience leading technical projects, including planning and scheduling.
  • Strong technical foundation in test methodologies, system integration, and hardware assembly.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Proven ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and drive execution in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work in test, lab, and production environments, including standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs as needed.
  • Willingness to support test operations that may occur during off-hours, weekends, or extended shifts as campaigns require.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in aerospace, propulsion, or complex hardware development environments.
  • Background bridging program/project management and hands-on engineering execution.
  • Familiarity with test data acquisition systems, instrumentation, and analysis.
  • Experience with configuration management, quality systems, and risk management.
  • Knowledge of lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Formal project management training or certification (e.g., PMP) is a plus.
