General Overview

We are looking for a growth-oriented Sales Manager to join our team as we continue our expansion as the premier ADCP and DVL provider.  This leader will have a strong technical background, ideally in the Oceanographic and/or Subsea Navigation industry, with solid experience in technically advising clients on underwater acoustic sensor solutions.  The Sales Manager will support TRDI clients and prospects by working alongside our global sales experts to make TRDI customers' journey the best in the industries we serve.  This role will assist the activities of an outside sales team of 15+ people, ensuring they meet or exceed quarterly budgeted sales goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Implements and manages sales tactics to support the needs, goals and objectives of TRDI and the corporation

  • Supports the sales effort by making and receiving onsite customer visits in alignment with the external sales team

  • Direct sales to key customers/accounts in alignment with the external sales team

  • Supports the process of opportunity management and lead generation residing in Salesforce

  • Implements strategic growth initiatives relating to products (ADCPs, DVLs, Commissioning’s and Spare Parts)

  • Analyzes performance of Regions against Business Plan and identifies areas of development for the Product lines

  • In collaboration with the Product Line Director and Regional Sales Directors, develops a strategic plan, including competition analysis, market size definition, ideal customer base target and potential partner/acquisition for each of the focused markets/product lines

  • Guides outside sales team in establishing and maintaining an opportunity pipeline that supports the business plan objectives

  • Participates in developing and implementing regional sales strategies, including plans and programs to maximize market penetration of products, with new market entry both direct and through channel partners

  • Identifies adjacent markets or new product needs and provide feedback to the Product Line Director and Regional Sales Directors

  • In collaboration with the Marketing Manager, assists with promotional activities (such as web campaigns, brochures, trade shows, direct sales and social media)

  • In collaboration with the Subject Matter Expert, coaches and trains the global Sales team to fully understand the functionality and benefits of each product offered with TRDI's unique value propositions

  • Manages and mentors the Customer Service Admin team

  • In collaboration with the Product Line Director, assists in the creation of strategic business development plans

  • Provides regular quantitative and subjective market feedback related to market segments and product lines

  • Creates and delivers weekly reports on key customer interactions and new opportunities

Supervisory Responsibilities                                            

This job provides general supervision to a functional area which may include supervision of supervisors and direct supervision of other exempt and non-exempt personnel.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include providing leadership to employees, interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications/Requirements

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) from a four-year college or university in a related field and a minimum of 5-7 years of directly related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Sales experience within market segment/industry required, specifically marine, subsea and/or navigation

  • 5-10 years of field application experience or technical adviser with customer interface for Oceanographic Instrumentation or Underwater Vehicle Navigation applications preferred (preferably in one or several of TRDI’s targeted sectors, such as Marine Science, Offshore Energy, Underwater Defense, and Water Resources markets)

  • Prior people leadership experience required.

  • Excellent verbal and written language skills

  • Proven problem-solving capabilities and resourcefulness

  • Demonstrated ability to perform product demonstrations and technical training

  • MS Office and CRM skills, preferably Salesforce

  • Strong interpersonal skills to lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams

  • Experience working in a complex manufacturing environment is strongly preferred

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a high growth and fast paced environment

  • Up to 50% travel with ability to conduct business independently and professionally, both domestically and internationally

$96,600.00-$128,800.000

The anticipated salary range listed for this role is only an estimate. Actual compensation for successful candidates is carefully determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, location, education/training, work experience, key skills, and type of position.
