Full Job Description
WHAT YOU'LL DO

We are looking for a Technical Product Manager to lead the strategy, roadmap, and delivery of shared platform capabilities that power products across Ascend Learning.

This role sits at the intersection of product management, engineering, architecture, data, and AI. Rather than managing a single customer-facing product, you will define and scale reusable platform services used by internal engineering teams and business product organizations. You will translate enterprise priorities and technical needs into clear product direction, prioritized roadmaps, and measurable outcomes.

The ideal candidate brings strong technical fluency, sound product judgment, and the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to both technical and business stakeholders.

WHERE YOU'LL WORK

This role will work a hybrid schedule in our Burlington, MA or Leawood, KS office or fully remote within the United States.

HOW YOU'LL SPEND YOUR TIME

Own Shared Platform Capabilities
  • Lead one or more enterprise platform capabilities that enable product and engineering teams to build, integrate, and scale solutions more effectively across Ascend Learning. This may include reusable services, shared technology foundations, data- or AI-enabled platform services, and other enterprise capabilities that improve consistency, speed, reliability, and reuse across product teams.
  • Develop and maintain product roadmaps that align platform investments with enterprise priorities, business needs, and long-term technology strategy.

Product Discovery and Strategy
  • Understand the needs of internal engineering teams, business product organizations, and enterprise stakeholders.
  • Define product vision, strategy, outcomes, and success metrics for shared platform capabilities.
  • Gather feedback from internal customers and identify opportunities to improve platform usability, scalability, and adoption.
  • Balance new functionality with platform reliability, scalability, security, and technical debt reduction.

Product Execution
  • Translate strategic priorities and customer needs into clear product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Prioritize product backlogs based on customer value, business impact, technical feasibility, and platform health.
  • Partner closely with Engineering to deliver high-quality, reliable, and scalable platform capabilities.
  • Define adoption, performance, and value metrics; monitor progress and use insights to guide roadmap decisions.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner across product, engineering, architecture, security, data, AI, UX, infrastructure, and program teams to align priorities, resolve dependencies, and ensure shared platform investments scale across the enterprise.

Technical Leadership
  • Apply working knowledge of APIs, distributed systems, cloud architecture, data models, identity, integrations, and platform services.
  • Participate in architectural discussions and help evaluate technical tradeoffs.
  • Make informed prioritization decisions that balance customer value, engineering effort, risk, and long-term platform health.
  • Help define platform standards, operating principles, and best practices that improve consistency and developer experience.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

Required
  • 5+ years of product management, technical product management, platform product management, or related experience.
  • Experience working closely with software engineering teams to define, prioritize, and deliver technical products or platform capabilities.
  • Strong understanding of APIs, cloud platforms, distributed systems, integrations, and modern software architecture.
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear product requirements, roadmaps, and stakeholder communications.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, prioritization, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Previous software engineering, systems engineering, enterprise architecture, or technical program experience.
  • Experience with Azure or other public cloud platforms.
  • Experience with AI platforms, large language models, data platforms, machine learning infrastructure, or developer platforms.
  • Experience in healthcare, education technology, SaaS, or other regulated industries.

In accordance with applicable state laws, we are providing the expected salary range for this position.
