The Technical Interface Designer (TID) bridges the gap between artists and software engineers by combining artistic skills and experience with programming and scripting. The TID is part of the art team and works closely with artists, project managers, programmers and other technical designers.
Your Responsibilities
- Implement screens and components from mockups provided by the design team
- Create UI animations and effects using proprietary game engine
- Drive conversion of legacy UI into modern systems
- Maintain best practices in code and art development
- Apply proper optimization techniques in code and art assets
- Quickly identify and debug art and animation related issues
- Motion demo prototyping ensuring implementation feasibility
- Creation for game front end and HUD and integration in game
- Collaborate with engineering and art to understand needs and technical constraints
- Document tools and workflows on the internal Wiki
- High fidelity rapid prototyping for UX evaluation
- Learn and support UI implementation and animations in legacy tech (Flash-based animations via ActionScript and timeline; XML-based layout markup language)
Your Qualifications
- Technical skills, and ability to quickly learn new proprietary production tools and workflow
- Adept or be able to quickly learn various Object Oriented programming languages and scripts (e.g. Javascript, C#)
- Familiar with scripting languages like Python
- Proficient with modern design tools (Figma, Adobe, etc) and other graphics and animation applications
- 1+ years of experience creating motion graphics, or interfaces with game engines such as Unreal or Unity
- Visual animation and programming
- Understanding of node-based visual scripting systems
Other Preferred Skills/Qualifications
- Understanding of user experience principles
- Understanding of revision version control software. Knowledge of Perforce is ideal
- Degree in a relevant visual art or technical subject highly desired (e.g. BSc Computer Science or Game Programming , Game Art and Design Diploma)
- Knowledge of animating and scripting with Adobe Flash

Pay Transparency - North AmericaCOMPENSATION AND BENEFITS The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs).
PAY RANGES* British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria) *$104,500 - $142,800 CAD
Pay is just one part of the overall compensation at EA.
For Canada, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and other incentive programs.
