Technical Advisor III

Job Summary and Description:

The Technical Advisor III (TA III) role is a key leadership role with focus on account management and technical resource delivery and application. The TA III reports to the Senior Manager of M&TS. The TA III is responsible for technology transfer and developing strong relationships at all appropriate levels within assigned client organizations. The TA III proactively promotes EPRI's capabilities and programs in order to enhance revenue growth and broaden engagement of assigned clients. The TA III will have strong general knowledge of EPRI's capabilities as well as extensive subject matter expertise in the assigned R&D sector. The TA III will be called upon to give technically deep sector specific presentations and will be capable of representing EPRI at the same technical levels as any program manager in the sector. The TA III will be expected to provide technical support to other members of the sector sales team and serve as a mentor for their technical skills growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish strong relationships at all appropriate decision-making levels within assigned accounts. Make general as well as specific sales calls and presentations to broaden client engagement. Understand the client's strategic issues, business objectives, unique needs and processes to drive revenue growth.
  • Proactively identify existing EPRI products and solutions that can be positioned to meet and exceed client needs.
  • Manage the client engagement process through the close of sales and coordinate appropriate internal cross-functional support as needed.
  • Possess sufficiently deep technical knowledge of sector R&D portfolio with ability to represent a strong value proposition to clients of all technical programs, projects, and products.
  • Provide technical support and training as needed by the other members of the sector sales team.
  • Takes an active role in developing, scoping and launching key supplemental projects.
  • Capture client, market and product feedback to help support and influence future EPRI product development.
  • Takes an active role in working with program managers and marketing staff to shape the R&D portfolio each year.
  • Proactively capture and communicate value to document impacts and benefits to assigned clients on a regular basis throughout the year.
  • Work closely with technical staff and builds relationships with appropriate internal stakeholders.
  • Adept in tracking and managing opportunity funnel in client relationship management (CRM) tool.
  • Identify, develop and cultivate relationships with client end users to facilitate effective technology transfer. Work with end users to support implementation/application of relevant EPRI results.
  • Work collaboratively across the other EPRI R&D sector programs and cross sell relevant research.
  • Actively promotes the implementation and broad acceptance of EPRI's tools/results widely across the client organization.
  • Assist in conducting member satisfaction survey. Analyze and summarize the key feedback received from members. Provide recommendations for improving member experience.

Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree required in technical discipline, engineering degree preferred. Advanced degree, professional engineering license or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Desired fifteen years electric utility or similar industry experience with a minimum of seven years experience in selling complex technical solutions.
  • Solid understanding of account management and sales practices/principles with the ability to drive the sales process from needs assessment to close.
  • Ability to effectively engage at all levels within client organizations.
  • Broad understanding of the energy industry and specific expertise in the assigned sector.
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency in assigned sector.

The salary range for this position is $145,000 USD to $165,000 USD annually.

This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on various factors, including without limitation applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.

This role is eligible to participate in EPRI's annual incentive program. The amount of incentive varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the plan.
