Swedesboro, NJ bakery. As a
Tech 3, Sr. Controls Tech - 1st Shift, you will be accountable for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing plant-wide electrical, automation, and process control systems that support safe, efficient, and reliable manufacturing operations. This role provides technical leadership for equipment reliability, system improvements, and training of Electro-Mechanics across all shifts.
Shift & Schedule- Shift: 1st Shift
- Hours: 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM EST
- Weekend Availability: Required as business and production needs dictate
Compensation- Hourly Rate: $45.00 - $46.25
Core Accountabilities (What You'll Be Doing)- Maintain and optimize plant electrical, automation, and process control systems to maximize equipment reliability and uptime.
- Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis efforts for electrical and controls-related equipment failures.
- Train and coordinate Electro-Mechanics across all shifts to ensure technical consistency and operational effectiveness.
- Oversee preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities for PLCs, drives, networks, and production equipment.
- Manage and maintain electrical schematics, control programs, system configurations, and equipment documentation.
- Support plant utility systems including steam, refrigeration, HVAC, compressed air, water, and power distribution systems.
- Ensure compliance with GMP, safety, quality, regulatory, and company standards while driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications (What You Bring to the Table)- High school diploma or equivalent with extensive industrial controls, automation, or electrical maintenance experience.
- Working knowledge of machine layouts, control drawings, P&IDs, system interconnection drawings, and distributed control systems.
- Proficiency using Rockwell, Siemens, and Mitsubishi programming, configuration, and troubleshooting software.
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, operating manuals, electrical schematics, and maintenance instructions.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to interpret graphs and technical diagrams.
- Ability to support equipment repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities in a manufacturing environment, including lifting up to 50 lbs. with assistance.
- Valid driver's license with the ability to travel occasionally for training, parts procurement, or equipment support.
Preferred Qualifications (Extra Ingredients for Success)- Associate's degree (AS/AAS) in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering Technology, or a related technical field.
- Experience with machine design, electrical control systems installation, commissioning, and startup activities.
- Experience in food manufacturing, baking, consumer packaged goods (CPG), or other continuous process manufacturing environments.
- Experience utilizing computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and preventive maintenance software.
- Knowledge of industrial networking, AC/DC drives, servo systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
