The Senior Paralegal provides comprehensive support for trust and estate administration, probate proceedings, and tax filings under the direct supervision of attorneys, specialists, and the project supervisor. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively with clients, family offices, financial institutions, and other external parties.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather, review, and organize asset information for probate proceedings and estate tax reporting.
- Assist with the valuation of estate and trust assets and coordinate appraisals of real estate and tangible property.
- Coordinate communications among attorneys, estate and trust representatives, client families, partnerships, corporations, and family business representatives.
- Prepare and coordinate probate filings and estate tax returns in jurisdictions throughout the United States, including electronic probate filings.
- Work with paralegals and case assistants in other Arnold & Porter offices and outside counsel to facilitate local probate and tax filings.
- Prepare and file IRS forms, compile supporting documentation, and assist with responses to IRS audit requests.
- Prepare illustrations depicting asset structures, estate and trust administration, and the disposition of assets.
- Prepare annual estate and trust accountings.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of five years of paralegal experience in trusts and estates
- Four-year college degree or equivalent experience.
- Excellent academic record.
- Accounting, estate planning, and tax preparation experience preferred.
- Proficiency with ONESOURCE Trust & Estate Administration, Estate Val, Gift Val, Estate Planning Tools, Superforms, and the IRS website.
- Proficiency with Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and related software.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to work directly with clients, family offices, and financial institutions.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
- Ability to prioritize competing deadlines and manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Reliability, dependability, initiative, and a commitment to exceptional internal and external client service.
- Flexibility to work additional hours as needed.

The anticipated base salary for this position is $90,000 - $130,000. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.

As a nonexempt position, this position is eligible for overtime.
The firm may provide a discretionary bonus annually.
