Tech7 is looking for a System Engineering Technical Advisor to join our team with the SYD 85 Battle Management Team (BMT).
As a SETA supporting the SYD 85 BMT mission area, you serve as a system engineering advisor to the BMT Materiel Leader and team. This role provides system engineering and program management support and serves as an engineering subject matter expert during all phases of the acquisition lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities - Provide overarching program management support including data management, IT support, systems engineering, configuration management, security assistance, and infrastructure coordination across program teams.
- Act as technical advisor and engineering SME at technical interchange meetings, design reviews, program conferences, VTCs/telecons, IPTs/WGs, and customer briefings; produce slide briefings, technical analyses, and decision-ready recommendations.
- Maintain stakeholder engagement and technical liaison duties between program leadership, other directorates, mission partners, C2 operations centers, and external agencies to ensure cross-program integration and requirements alignment.
- Support acquisition lifecycle activities, help develop ICDs, CDDs, CPDs, milestone and DAB documentation; monitor implementation; identify shortfalls; and provide risk and impact assessments and recommendations for process improvements.
- Provide systems engineering support: requirements development and allocation, TRD/SRD/ICD reviews, verification planning, test planning, mission assurance, program protection, and performance trade studies.
- Lead integration and interface resolution: identify interface conflicts, coordinate cross-organizational resolution, and track corrective actions to enable system-of-systems integration.
- Provide test support for developmental and operational testing: develop test requirements, help design test plans, and analyze/evaluate test data.
- Translate intelligence products into technical requirements: prepare intelligence staffing packages, identify vulnerabilities and mitigation options, and coordinate with IC stakeholders and program offices.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical anomalies by coordinating with government, FFRDCs, and industry partners to diagnose issues and implement fixes or mitigations.
- Support external agreements and acquisition actions: assist in development/review of acquisition strategies, MOAs/MOUs, impact analyses, audits, compliance inspections, and readiness reviews.
- Support source selection and procurement activities: assist development of Source Selection Plans and Acquisition Strategies, coordinate functional review meetings, and ensure information-assurance and requirements compliance.
- Oversee Agile software development efforts: apply software systems-engineering practices, monitor contractor technical baselines and milestones, assess risks and mitigations, and provide regular technical feedback.
- Support Space Combat Cloud and digital engineering/MBSE efforts: track action items, manage CDRLs and CLIN deliveries, perform configuration and requirements allocation, and help define technical standards and resilience initiatives.
- Produce routine required reports and financial reporting: submit Monthly Status Reports per performer (key duties, monthly accomplishments, suggestions) by the 5th of each month; submit Contract Funds Status Reports with invoices by the 8th (value, funding, expended, EAC, funding run-out).
- Support transition and sustainment activities: provide engineering input for transition to operations, sustainment planning, and lifecycle support for fielded capabilities.
Required Qualifications:- Active Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance with current Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI).
- 10+ years of experience supporting DoD space or related defense acquisition programs, including systems engineering or program management across the acquisition lifecycle.
- Demonstrated experience with JCIDS documentation (ICD, CDD, CPD), milestone/DAB documentation, and DoD acquisition processes, including risk assessments and requirements shortfall analysis.
- Strong systems engineering skills: requirements development and verification, interface/ICD review, test planning (DT/OT), mission assurance, and configuration management.
- Experience resolving integration/interface issues across multiple government and industry stakeholders with a system-of-systems mindset.
- Experience supporting or interfacing with the Intelligence Community: translating intel into technical requirements and managing intelligence-sensitive deliverables.
- Experience providing source selection or procurement support, and familiarity with Source Selection Plans and acquisition strategies.
- Experience overseeing Agile software development from a systems-engineering perspective and performing contractor technical oversight.
- Strong written and oral communication skills and demonstrated ability to produce MSRs, CFSRs, technical reports, and executive briefings on schedule.
Desired Qualifications:- Prior experience with Space Combat Cloud, digital engineering, and MBSE practices and toolchains.
- Familiarity with BMC3 / C2 enterprise concepts, space control architectures, and system-of-systems integration for space operations.
- Certifications such as PMP, INCOSE CSEP/ASEP, CISSP, or relevant DoD/IA certifications.
- Experience with configuration management and CDRL management on classified programs and cross-classification processes.
- Prior experience working with FFRDCs, SMC directorates, or similar government program offices.
- Strong financial reporting and contract funds tracking experience to produce CFSRs and support invoicing cadence.
Education:- Bachelor's degree in science, Engineering, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Mathematics, or related field highly desired.
- Or Master's degree with 5 to 7 years of experience.
Security Clearance: - Must be a US citizen
- Must have and be able to receive and maintain a TS/SCI
Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only. Salaries are commensurate with experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. Annual Pay Transparency Range: $158,000 - $225,000
