This is an on-site role located in our Fluid Systems Division Elyria, Ohio Site. This position requires the team member to travel.
Bachelor's Degree is required.
Position Summary
The Supplier Recovery & Performance Specialist leads the end-to-end response to supplier performance issues and embeds continuous improvement activities that secure on-time customer delivery. This hands-on role mobilizes cross-functional teams to execute rapid containment and full recovery when suppliers fail to meet commitments, while also driving upstream prevention through structured root-cause analysis, CAPA management and supplier capability development.
Day-to-day accountabilities include convening war-rooms for high-impact incidents, maintaining and escalating a live action tracker. The role also partners with Tactical, Strategic Buyers and Planning to validate forecast/schedule flow-down accuracy, correct master-data issues, automate exception reconciliation, and embed performance KPIs into S&OP and supplier review cadences. Position will directly report to the Site Supply Chain Manager.
Responsibilities
• Responsible for leading recovery efforts on key supplier delivery issues, establishing governance and reporting. Conducting deep dives into constraints and guiding suppliers to resolve them.
• Will participate in supplier site audits and/or coordinate supplier audits with a cross functional team to determine appropriateness and quality of supplier's product.
• This is an extensively supplier facing role and on-site presence is important. As a result, there might be 25% travel.
• Will have responsibility for leading supplier recovery and risk mitigation efforts at supplier sites located anywhere in the country.
• Will initiate vendor quality management, improvements including evaluating process capability, tracking delivery, output, and reporting of supplier performance.
• Deploy Supplier Recovery, which may include any combination of assessments, training, quality improvements, delivery improvements, capacity improvement, lead-time reductions.
• Lead in cross functional project teams driving improvements in on-time delivery, volatility, sub-tier management.
• Will have ownership of supplier scorecard improvement and supplier recognition.
• Complete root cause analysis and recommend / implement corrective actions where developed solutions will drive closure of root-cause actions.
• Interface with all levels of the organization, suppliers, and customers regarding supplier performance and improvement actions and processes. Be prepared to report out at executive levels on plans and results.
• Work collaboratively across complex organizational structures to develop and implement systemic solutions as countermeasures to resolve chronic business performance issues.
Required Skills and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Finance, Business Administration or related field is required.
Direct experience of at least 3-5+ years in supply chain, supplier quality, procurement or operations in manufacturing preferred (distribution expereince may also be considered)
Practical experience leading supplier recovery, CAPA, root cause analysis (5-Why, Fishbone) and performance improvement projects
Strong analytical skills; proficiency with Excel and experience with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau) and ERP systems,
Excellent stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills; ability to lead without direct authority
Solid project management skills; comfortable driving multiple concurrent actions
Clear written and verbal communication, including executive summaries and supplier escalation communications
Ability to travel to supplier sites as required.
