Full Job Description
SUPERVISOR, FACILITIES - 2ND SHIFT

As a member of the critical infrastructure team, you will help design, build, activate and maintain some of the world's most technically advanced manufacturing facilities. You will be able to operate with autonomy to solve diverse and complex problems, excel at managing multiple projects at a time and work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. As a Supervisor, you will lead the 2nd and 3rd shift technician team and be the extreme owner of all infrastructure work. The Facilities Supervisor is an important role and directly impacts the foundation of the Hawthorne site. This position will help to ensure that we keep facility maintenance costs low, vendors competitive and efficient, and find better ways to enhance our image to customers, visitors, and VIPs. RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead a team responsible for performing inspections, testing, maintenance and repair of campus wide systems; including fire suppression systems (wet/dry sprinkler systems), backflow preventers, electrical panels as well as other preventative maintenance and repair programs covered by facilities operations
  • Lead and direct a team of building structures, plumbing, compressed air, and electrical facility technicians
  • Schedule daily work and prioritize assignments
  • Develop, plan and execute site improvement projects in accordance with overall business objectives and strategy
  • Know and understand all safety procedures of SpaceX in order to observe the work of contractors and bring safety concerns to their attention as needed. Report all unsafe acts and conditions which remain uncorrected to supervisor. Allow no work to be performed when conditions are considered unsafe
  • Maintain appropriate records for all trades as required
  • Know and understand electrical equipment such as: motor control centers, transformers, switchboards, controllers, electrical feeders, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment
  • Communicate with Manager on daily activities, projects, team moral and concerning issues
  • Manage vendor/contractor finances. Work with SpaceX buyers and AP to assure accounts are maintained
  • Oversee team of facilities techs, driving overall performance and effectiveness through individual coaching and development

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 3+ years of experience with facilities management

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in construction, engineering or equivalent
  • Knowledge of building management and automated facilities monitoring systems and processes such as: HVAC systems, fluid plumbing systems, fire suppression systems, generators, or fuel storage systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications such as Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint
  • Experience managing budgets and third-party vendors
  • Experience negotiating contracts and comparing service costs to achieve maximum value
  • Experience with asset management software
  • High attention to detail and cleanliness standards
  • Ability to work independently with little direction
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
  • Ability to anticipate needs and develop innovative solutions for continuous improvement

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • This is not a remote or hybrid position and will require relocation if not already local to the Hawthorne, CA area
  • Ability to provide 24/7 on-call support of critical activities and emergency situations
  • Must be able to work 2nd shift hours, extended hours, and/or weekends as needed
    • 2nd Shift: Monday to Friday 3pm - 1am
  • Willing to perform work in extreme outdoor environments - cold, heat, and rain
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs unassisted


COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay Range:
$115,000.00 - $155,000.00

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
