Loyola Marymount University (LMU) is a private Jesuit and Marymount research university in Los Angeles, California. It was founded in 1911 as Loyola College and merged with Marymount College in 1973 to become Loyola Marymount University. LMU offers over 150 undergraduate and graduate degree programs across seven colleges and schools, including the Bellarmine College of Liberal Arts, the School of Film and Television, and the Loyola Law School. The university is also home to the LMU Center for Religion and Spirituality and the LMU Bioethics Institute. LMU has a strong athletic program, with its teams known as the LMU Lions.
