About the Role:

Reporting to the Associate Director, Sports, the Student Athlete Success Specialist is responsible for the administration, coordination, and continuous improvement of programs, services, systems, and processes that support student-athlete eligibility, compliance, academic success, recruitment, admissions, retention, and athletic financial awards. The incumbent serves as a subject matter expert on Brock University, OUA, and U SPORTS regulations, ensuring student-athletes and varsity programs operate in compliance with applicable policies and requirements. Working closely with coaches, student athletes, and a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, the incumbent provides guidance on eligibility, academic standing, financial awards, and recruitment processes; facilitates access to student support services; manages compliance related records and reporting; and develops recommendations that enhance operational effectiveness and the student-athlete experience.

The Student Athlete Success Specialist will:
  • Act as the departmental lead for student-athlete eligibility, recruitment, and compliance processes, ensuring adherence to Brock University, OUA, U SPORTS, and other applicable governing body regulations and policies;
  • Develop, implement, evaluate, and maintain procedures and administrative practices related to student-athlete eligibility, recruitment, registration, financial awards, and compliance;
  • Liaise with OUA and U SPORTS representatives regarding eligibility interpretations, compliance matters, appeals, and policy clarification;
  • Manage all student-athlete registrations and records, including administration of applicable electronic systems and governing body portals, ensuring required documentation is collected, verified, and maintained;
  • Maintain varsity team rosters and monitor student-athlete eligibility requirements throughout the academic year;
  • Monitor student-athlete academic standing and eligibility, provide guidance to coaches and student-athletes on academic requirements, and prepare academic progress and eligibility reports;
  • Coordinate responses to student-athlete inquiries and facilitates referrals to appropriate University services and supports, including Accessibility Services, Student Wellness and Accessibility Services, Human Rights and Equity, academic advising, and other student support services;
  • Work with academic departments and faculty to facilitate solutions related to competition-related academic conflicts and coordinates examination accommodations and proctoring arrangements where required;
  • Act as event lead for assigned Brock Sports & Recreation events, coordinating logistics, stakeholder communications, operational requirements, and event delivery;
  • Coordinate athletic financial award administration and provide guidance to coaches and student-athletes regarding award processes, requirements, and timelines;
  • Act as the primary liaison with Admissions, the Office of the Registrar, Residence Services, Student Awards and Financial Aid, academic units, and other University partners regarding prospective and current student-athletes;
  • Track and monitors admission candidacy status of prospective student-athletes using recruitment management systems and related administrative tools; and
  • Develop, analyze, and maintain reports, metrics, and assessment processes related to student-athlete recruitment, retention, academic progress, eligibility, financial awards, and departmental performance for internal and external stakeholders.


This role will be required to work occasional weekends and evenings to support the student experience.

Key Skills and Experience:
  • Undergraduate degree in relevant discipline (Sport Management, Business Administration, Education, Kinesiology, Recreation);
  • A valid class G Driver's License with an acceptable driver's abstract;
  • Experience in varsity athletics, post-secondary administration, student services, compliance administration, or a related environment;
  • Knowledge of OUA and U SPORTS rules, regulations, policies, and procedures related to student-athlete eligibility, recruitment, financial awards, and compliance;
  • Experience interpreting and applying policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements;
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel;
  • Promotes and embodies inclusivity and respect within the workplace and the broader community;
  • Ability to handle confidential information with tact, discretion, and sound judgment;
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment while managing multiple priorities and deadlines;
  • Strong analytical, organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills; and
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.


Salary and Total Rewards:
  • Job Grade [L], Salary Scale $67,721.00 -$108,353.00
  • Target Hiring Range: $67,721.00 -$70,000*

*The final salary is based on experience, internal equity, and budget considerations within the target hiring range.
