Full Job Description
HDR is looking for a Structural Project Engineer to join our Building Engineering Services Business Group in Walnut Creek or Folsom, CA office. This individual will be responsible for the structural design of facilities in support of a variety of markets including Technology, Corporate/Commercial, Education, Healthcare, Water/Wastewater, Municipal, Industrial, Power, and Federal. They will be expected to coordinate and work closely with a multidiscipline design team throughout the entire life cycle of projects from planning stages, through the development of construction documents, and construction administration. They will be responsible for the development of construction drawings, specifications, and supporting engineering calculations, as well as the review of shop drawings during construction. Experience in structural design and detailing of building related projects is required. This individual should be self-motivated, collaborative and possess strong leadership skills with an initiative to deliver high quality, technically sound structural engineering designs. In the role of Structures Project Engineer, we'll count on you to: 37 Review structural documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines 37 Write and edit structural specifications, select procedures, materials and their respective sizes, and complete necessary calculations 37 Independently coordinate the work of the structural design team through the design development and contract document phases of a project 37 Establish meetings and participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance 37 Conduct design development and contract document work sessions at project site in conjunction with the Project Manager and other disciplines 37 Take responsibility for coordinating workload through design development and construction document phases to complete the documents on schedule 37 Coordinate and assist with affected disciplines, with any addendum, requests for information, change proposal requests and change orders, and incorporate agreed-upon changes into the project documents 37 Perform other duties as needed Preferred Qualifications 37 Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or BS degree in Architectural Engineering; Structural emphasis 37 SE license 37 Previous structural engineering experience 37 AutoCAD, RISA, Staad, SAP, Tedds, RAM, ETABS, SAFE or similar 37 Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm 37 A minimum of 5 years structural engineering experience Qualifications Required Qualifications 37 Bachelor's degree 37 Previous experience in general civil engineering 37 Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license. 37 Demonstrated leadership and communication skills 37 Proficient with Microsoft Office 37 Good verbal and written communication skills 37 An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
