Structural Inspection Quality Control Engineer to join our growing Structural Condition Inspection team in Buffalo, New York. This leadership-focused position plays a critical role in maintaining the technical excellence and quality standards of structural inspection projects throughout New York State.
As part of our employee-owned firm, you will work alongside experienced bridge and structural inspection professionals delivering services for transportation agencies, public authorities, municipalities, and private clients. Our team performs bridge, overhead sign, and underwater inspections, as well as structural condition assessments, on some of the region's most important infrastructure assets.

Responsibilities:- Serve as the quality control lead for structural inspection reports, calculations, and engineering deliverables.
- Review and approve inspection documentation to ensure compliance with client requirements and industry standards.
- Provide technical oversight and guidance to inspection engineers, team leaders, and support staff.
- Support bridge, transportation, and structural condition inspection projects throughout New York and surrounding regions.
- Maintain quality assurance procedures and continuously improve internal inspection practices.
- Assist project managers with workload planning, technical problem-solving, and risk management.
- Collaborate with clients, agencies, and project stakeholders throughout project execution.
- Participate in field inspections as needed, including complex or high-profile structures.
- Mentor junior engineers and support professional development initiatives.
- Support business development activities, proposal preparation, and client relationship management.
Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required; New York PE preferred or ability to obtain through reciprocity.
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in bridge inspection, structural inspection, or transportation structure evaluation.
- Extensive knowledge of NBIS/SNBI requirements, NYSDOT standards, and structural inspection procedures.
- Demonstrated experience performing technical reviews and quality control of engineering deliverables.
- Strong communication, leadership, and mentoring abilities.
- Experience managing multiple projects and priorities in a collaborative environment.
- Familiarity with inspection access methods, including hands-on inspections, rope access, drones, or underwater inspections, is a plus.
Requirements- Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration
- Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language
- Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
- Able to stand for approximately 3 hours minimum a day up to 8 hours
- Able to traverse a construction job site consisting of uneven ground varying in height and consistency of material, with a variation of elevation 19" or less (mud, gravel, rutted ground, etc.)
- Able to climb and leave a ladder to a platform varying from 6' to 20'
- Able to operate a mechanical aerial lift or bucket truck up to a height of 100 feet
- Able to wear and operate personal fall arresting apparatus, and work at a height of 6' or higher
- Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working
