Full Job Description
Join Mead & Hunt's innovative South-Central Water/Wastewater team as a structural engineer designing the structures behind critical water and wastewater infrastructure (examples: concrete treatment basins and tanks; pump stations; clarifiers and settling basins; retaining walls; headworks structures; aeration basins; digesters; concrete masonry and light gauge steel buildings). You'll help deliver resilient, lasting solutions for communities while expanding your technical expertise, strengthening your project leadership capabilities, and building client relationships in a collaborative, employee-owned firm.

Responsibilities include:
  • Preparing structural engineering calculations used to develop construction documents
  • Preparing structural drawings and detailing of structural systems
  • Preparing, analyzing and/or modifying reports, specifications, and schedules
  • Developing probable construction cost estimates
  • Preparing and monitoring of budgets for specific tasks within an assigned project
  • Performing QA/QC
  • Visiting project sites to monitor progress and handle routine construction administration
  • Assisting with client contact and communication pertaining to projects
  • Attending client meetings


Some travel will be required.

The successful candidate must have:
  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in civil engineering and an emphasis in structural engineering from an accredited college or university
  • At least four (4) years of experience in structural engineering
  • PE license in any state with ability to obtain in Texas within six months of start date


The ideal candidate will have any/all of the following:
  • Reinforced concrete design experience (ACI 318 & 350)
  • Structural steel design experience (AISC)
  • Understanding of the International Building Code and ASCE 7
  • Experience with water/wastewater structural engineering projects
  • Experience with concrete masonry design
  • Experience with concrete repair and rehabilitation
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel) and experience in TEDDS, Enercalc, RISA, STAAD, and Virtual Analysis
  • Experience with BlueBeam Revu
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Revit
